??? It's International Jaguar Day or as we like to call it, Black Jaguar Friday! Our dedicated staff in Honduras spotted this rare black jaguar in one of our wildlife cameras. This team monitors and conserves jaguar populations, as well as pumas, ocelots, jaguarundi and margays. Through on-the-ground patrols, SMART technology and acoustic monitoring, Panthera has helped reduce poaching events from 89 occurrences in 2018 to only 19 in 2021. Jaguars have lost 50% of their historic habitat, which brings them into closer and closer proximity to humans, creating more human-cat conflict and increasing the chances of retaliatory attacks.
