Our team had the honor of ensuring that thousands of people were able to gather and pray safely during the Jewish High Holy Days this year. For many synagogues this year, one key element of their comprehensive security strategy was the use of highly trained detection K9s. Their extraordinary sense of smell—so sharp they can detect a single drop of liquid in 20 Olympic-sized pools—made them an invaluable, proactive tool in keeping the community safe. These dogs, paired with expert handlers, provided an additional layer of protection in a robust security plan designed to give everyone peace of mind during this sacred time. We recently conducted comprehensive active assailant response training for the security personnel at Wilshire Boulevard Temple, ensuring they're equipped to protect their community in the event of a threat. Our training covered critical areas, including: ? Case studies of past incidents to identify patterns and key takeaways ? A historical overview of active assailant events ? Priorities of Life for an emergency situation ? Mastering the anatomy of a room for tactical decision-making ? Tactical Emergency Casualty Care to provide life-saving skills like tourniquet application and safe rescue techniques. Next month, the team will bring this knowledge to life with a full-day, hands-on scenario that allows them to put their skills to the test.
