Event Announcement: Screening of “The Lost Mountaineers” Documentary Date & Time: 7:30 p.m. ? Tuesday, August 27, 2024 Location: Italian American Veterans Museum Third Floor ? Office Center ? Casa Italia 3800 Division St. ? Stone Park The Italian American Veterans Museum is proud to host a special screening of “The Lost Mountaineers,” a moving documentary dedicated to the memory of 25 G.I.s from the 10th Mountain Division who tragically lost their lives when their amphibious vehicle sank in Lake Garda on April 30, 1945. Originally declared MIA, the soldiers’ story remained untold for nearly 60 years until a group of passionate historians embarked on a mission to uncover the truth. Critically acclaimed, “The Lost Mountaineers” has earned several prestigious awards, including the People’s Choice Award at the RAM Film Festival in 2023 and Best Documentary at the Monza Film Fest in 2024. Produced by Fondazione Museo Storico del Trentino and the Association Benàch, with support from the 10th Mountain Division Foundation and other entities, this hour-long documentary is a powerful tribute to these forgotten heroes. Event Details: - The documentary will be shown in English. - The museum will open at 6:30 p.m. for viewing, with light refreshments served. - Admission is free, but donations are welcome. - Pando Commando (formerly Mountain Up Cap Company) will be generously giving away 100 10th Mountain caps to attendees.
