Empowering community prosperity with data. Made in Philly.

关于我们

Panbo supports small locally owned and operated businesses that make Philly unique, vibrant, and safe. To do so, we’re building the community loyalty co-op, an economic network that better connects small businesses to local shoppers. Together with our community partners, Panbo is growing a social movement to drive consumer awareness and knowledge around the impact of shopping locally, because when we take care of the community, the community takes care of us.

Panbo Express Takeout Order #2 is ready for your consumption. Over the month of September, Panbo has accomplished a lot. Just 2 weeks ago the breeze loyalty card did not exist. But through hardwork and teamwork we made it happen in under a week, creating the very first (from what we're aware) digitally enabled coalition loyalty program deployed across a farmers market. We are continuing to build our footprint across the city of Philadelphia, posting our Small Business Mosaic in high traffic areas so people continue to see our name and engage with our brand. The mosaic continues to be a valuable tool in starting conversations with small businesses across the city. As always if you want to stay updated in real time, head over to Panbo Daily. https://lnkd.in/eGG4PaB7 Melissa Nong, Turner Halle and myself update Panbo Daily frequently.

It's easy to talk about "supporting local." But how do we actually DO that? At Panbo, we’re helping you do that with our Philadelphia Small Business Mosaic. The Mosaic isn't just a map; it's a movement. It's an interactive tool that tells the stories behind storefronts, to show that these are more than just places to shop. They’re the People. The owners and employees who take care of us, who watch out for our kids, who care to make their services and products special for us, who GIVE BACK to the community, and who have been there for us, some for generations. And why now? Because every small business owner we've met — from the cafe that remembers your "usual" to the boutique that knows your style better than you do — reminded us of something powerful: Community isn't just WHERE we live; it's HOW we live. And if we want vibrant, thriving local economies, we have to invest in them. It’s not easy to shop local. So we asked, what if exploring your neighborhood could be as easy and fun as scrolling your feed? The Mosaic makes that possible. Take a moment today to explore the Mosaic. Discover a story. Visit a new spot. Share it with a friend. Let’s make local the default again. Ready to dive in? Check out the Mosaic and be part of the movement: https://lnkd.in/eX2Skzyi #Leadership #Innovation #SupportLocal #SmallBusinesses #CommunityBuilding #Startups #PhillyStrong #EconomicDevelopment

??It’s launch day and we’re paying people to shop local. Panbo with (Melissa Nong, Turner Halle, and myself) are excited to announce our first product: The Breeze Loyalty Card In collaboration with the Point Breeze Community Market, we are piloting the first iteration of the community loyalty co-op. Shoppers will receive a card that vendors can scan which allows them to earn money redeemable at the next week’s market. YES YOU HEARD THAT CORRECTLY we’re paying people to shop local. Shoppers receive breezy bucks each week depending on their previous shopping activity in the week prior. With 3 vendors and the market itself, these stakeholders will receive real and tangible data to retain more customers and drive engagement. This is a stepping stone to creating a data-driven community of the future, and it starts with South Philadelphia.

Working on Panbo has made one thing painfully obvious: growth doesn’t happen in comfort zones. It happens in the messy, uncertain, and sometimes downright awkward spaces we step into when we choose to build in public.?That’s why we’re excited to introduce?Panbo Express, our monthly newsletter that’s not just about what we’re building, but how we’re thinking. Why am I telling you this? Because transparency isn’t just a buzzword at Panbo—it’s our playbook. Every step we take is shared in real-time. Read our honest reflections and insights from the trenches of entrepreneurship. In our first issue, we dive into two big moves we’ve been making: 1) The Small Business Mosaic: A Love Letter to Philly’s Local Entrepreneurs Imagine a digital space that not only connects you with local gems but also tells their stories—the struggles, the triumphs, the human moments. That’s the heart of the Mosaic. Over the past few months, we’ve sat down with 60+ small business owners across Philly to co-create a tool that celebrates their grit and determination. It’s more than a directory; it’s a movement. A testament to what happens when communities choose to support their own. 2) Panbo Dailies: The Anti-Stealth Mode We built an app. But not just any app—this one’s our way of practicing radical transparency. With Panbo Dailies, we’ve cracked open our processes, our to-do lists, and yes, even our "oh no" moments for everyone to see. It’s a bit terrifying, but that’s where growth happens. And the best part? It’s open for anyone who wants to follow along, cheer us on, or hold us accountable. So, why launch Panbo Express??Because the future of business isn't about keeping secrets. It’s about sharing journeys, learning from each other, and creating impact together. We’re not just building a company; we’re building a community. Sound interesting??Join us.?Read the first issue of?Panbo Express (attached below), and let’s redefine what it means to grow, learn, and lead in this ever-evolving landscape. Together. Reflecting on the First Few Weeks of starting Panbo in Philly: Lessons Learned Well, well, well—Philly has been a ride so far. It’s funny how things shift so quickly when you’re in the thick of it. Here are some thoughts from the first few weeks: 1. Adaptation Over Pivoting: The startup mindset often preaches “pivot,” but maybe it’s more about adapting to your current circumstances. It’s not about abandoning ship but learning to steer it through whatever waters you're in. I’m starting to think adaptation is our natural groove—just need to keep that balance right. 2. Balancing the Grind and Sanity: We push ourselves hard—like really hard—but there’s a cost. Going above and beyond is great, but I’m learning that space to breathe is just as crucial. When your brain gets that space, that’s when the real magic happens. I’m loving this role, but maybe it’s time to loosen up a bit. 3. Reflection is a Game Changer: You know, pacing can feel overwhelming at first, but then you hit that groove. I think that comes with taking a moment to step back and reflect. It’s not just about getting things done; it’s about doing them better. Shout out to the team for helping push this project forward—adaptation, reflection, and some Sabrina tunes go a long way. 4. Collaboration > Everything: This isn’t a one-man show. It’s the collective grind that makes it happen. Whether it’s the big ideas or the little tweaks, working together is what’s getting us across the finish line. I’m stoked to see what we continue to build together. 5. The Mosaic of Philly: Our Business Mosaic project started as a jank idea and turned into something real—like, really real. 60+ small businesses, countless stories, and a tool that actually engages. It wasn’t an overnight thing; it was all about raising the bar each step of the way, asking “what if?” and then making it happen. Now, let’s share it with the world. So yeah, Philly’s been intense, but it’s also been an incredible learning experience. Here’s to keeping the momentum and seeing where it all takes us next. Onwards and upwards! Panbo Update 002: Today I am excited to showcase two new Panbo endeavours: First: Panbo Daily (https://lnkd.in/eGG4PaB7) As co-founders of Panbo—Turner Halle, Melissa Nong, and myself—we'll be updating this platform daily to document our journey as we build Panbo from the ground up. Our goal is to build and think in public, allowing you to see what we’re working on each day (complete with a fun photo!). We're committed to strengthening the Philadelphia community through the power of small businesses, and we want you to be a part of that journey. Second: the Small Business Mosaic (stayed tuned for a link) This interactive data story will enable the public to discover and explore the intentions behind the small businesses in their community. Our core belief is that by understanding the people behind these businesses and recognizing the importance of supporting them, more people will choose to shop local. To watch the Small Business Mosaic come to life in real-time, be sure to check Panbo Daily every day after 11am for the latest updates from Turner Halle, Melissa Nong, and myself. You’ll see new photos and insights as our work progresses. #community #data #shoplocal #smallbusiness #startup #build

I'm excited to introduce, along with my co-founders Ethan Markwalter and Turner Halle: ? Panbo ? Did you know 3x more value stays in a community when you shop local compared to a big box store? That's why Panbo is uniting locally owned, locally operated brick and mortar businesses under a shared loyalty program called the Community Loyalty Co-op (CLC). Data generated in a CLC helps drive more interactions between small businesses and shoppers, as we collaborate with small businesses to make buying local easier! ?????? Panbo is our step towards a future where people can control the true value of their data and where stronger, more connected communities thrive everywhere. ?? Thank you to all the many mentors and partners who have supported us thus far, such as Eric Bradlow, Ellen M. Chang, Julia Middleton, Venture Lab, Shawn Storm, Fishtown BID, East Passyunk BID, and many more! Our journey has just begun.
