We’re thrilled to announce an exciting new venture we’ve been brewing behind the scenes ?
Amidst a fast-paced digital landscape offering an endless stream of images, information, and advertisements, we’ve found ourselves yearning for a physical object that can be held in the hands and perused at leisure. We know we’re not alone.
We’ve long held a reverence for the printed page—we believe that it allows for a heightened and considerably more focused visual and textile experience; one that invites connection and conversation. To that end, our forthcoming print publication, THE PANAFOLD, will explore and celebrate California arts, architecture, design, and culture through a place-based lens. Through interviews, profiles, essays, criticism, literature, photography, and art, THE PANAFOLD will offer a unique and expansive portrait of California’s landscapes—spanning from the tangible to the internal, and encompassing both the natural world and the works of human hands.
As we gather stories and build out our very first issue, we are now open to unsolicited submissions of fiction, essays, poetry, visual art, and photography—as well as pitches for interviews, profiles, reviews, and other journalistic pieces. ?? ?? ??
We’re specifically looking for ideas that add to the conversation surrounding California and its vibrant arts and architecture scene—a photo essay that invites us inside an unconventional community in the High Desert, for example, or a profile of a Los Angeles architect, painter, filmmaker, or restauranteur, or a personal essay on generational trauma in the Central Valley that weaves in the history of the place. ?? ??
