Niche.com recently released its 2025 rankings of the best public schools in Illinois with all three Palos 118 schools placing high in their annual list. Palos South came in at #59 out of 1377 middle schools, placing it in the top 5%. Both Palos East and West placed in the top 10% of elementary schools in Illinois at #141, and #169 out of 2370. District 118 received an overall grade of “A” in their rankings and D118 also ranked #83 out of 631 as one of the best places to teach in Illinois, and #97 out of 601 as one of the districts with the best teachers in the state.

At the September board meeting, members of the Palos 118 Educational Foundation and Parent Faculty Association presented checks totaling $53,000 to pay for the installation of upgraded 70-inch interactive displays in the remainder of classrooms at Palos East and Palos West. Palos 118 Board Vice President Mike Pizur and his family represented District 118 at the Palos Hills' National Night Out this week. This is the second year in which Mr. Pizur and his wife Michelle participated in the event where they oversaw the sidewalk chalk station.
