We celebrated two 10-year anniversaries this quarter. Jonathan Waiters (picture 1) is a tanker driver in our Pee Dee division. He joined the Palmetto Corp team on July 31, 2014. Jacob Cardona started with Palmetto Corp in November 2016. From day one, he demonstrated himself to be an eager young man willing to do anything asked of him. Jacob quickly evolved from a laborer to a curb finisher to a lead man on his crew. With Oscar Rivera’s promotion to Midlands/Upstate PM, the foreman position in our Midlands division became available. I could think of no more deserving candidate than Jacob. Oscar Rivera joined the Palmetto Corp team in June 2014 as a laborer. Although he was only eighteen, he immediately demonstrated he was eager and willing to learn. He quickly progressed to a finisher position, and a few years later, earned the lead man spot on his crew. When we expanded into the Columbia market, it was a struggle to find the right guy to help us build and lead a concrete crew. Oscar lived and worked in the coastal area. When I approached him with an opportunity to grow with Palmetto Corp, and take a foreman position in the midlands, he was once again eager and willing. Oscar relocated to Columbia and has done a phenomenal job leading our Midlands division crew. As Palmetto Corp continues to grow, so does the concrete division. Shortly after expanding into the upstate, we were once again in need of another concrete crew. With crews working from top to bottom of the state, more management support is required.
