It takes a village to save a puppy. #DogIsMyCoPilot flew Hawk's family from Palm Valley Animal Society in Texas to our Rescue Campus in South Carolina. In South Carolina, our medical team diagnosed Hawk with hydrocephalus. Lucky Dog Animal Rescue reached out to #SavingDestinyAnimalRescue who have specialized knowledge to help dogs like Hawk. They agreed and Lucky Dog's challenge was to figure out how to get Hawk from South Carolina to Michigan. Lucky Dog put out a call to our partners and volunteers for help. We drove Hawk to a volunteer in Charleston to overnight. Then, that volunteer met a Southwest Airlines flight attendant volunteer who flew with Hawk to Michigan. It is a testament to the power of community and our partners that we were able to make this happen. The Volunteer trip to?Palm Valley Animal Society was very rewarding and very eye opening.?The enormity of this shelter - its size and number?of animals they care for is overwhelming.?But the staff of PVAS is so dedicated, caring and truly are working beyond their capacity to give each of these animals a chance at a future home.?They were an inspiration! My personal most rewarding part of the trip was helping run playgroups at the shelter.?These dogs in their care do not get out of their kennels at all for exercise but the staff does try to run playgroups?daily to allow as many dogs as possible to get out and play - be a dog and enjoy life running and chasing and wrestling with one another.?Seeing the joy on their faces as they played with one another was a high point in my trip. I was also very impressed?with their facility at Andrews and how the cats in their care were treated -- they had multiple?community cat rooms (impeccably clean and organized) that housed so many cats.?The cats looked healthy and happy and enjoyed all the enrichment items in each room.?Visitors could go right into the rooms and interact with the cats for socialization. The need in?Palm?Valley?is great but the?dedication and caring of the people who work there is even greater and I am excited and motivated for Lucky Dog to continue our partnership with PVAS and help even more animals in need! After his owner passed away, Ramsey's journey began when a PetSmart Charities team member transported him from Palm Valley Animal Society in Texas to Arizona. Captivated by a photo of Ramsey shared online, Tami felt an immediate connection and knew she needed to meet him. Once they met, Tami decided to foster Ramsey, and just two weeks later, she made the adoption official. ?? Their story didn't end there. Tami discovered that Ramsey had a littermate, Gordon, who also needed a home. Eager to reunite the siblings, she welcomed Gordon into her family. Now, these reunited brothers are thriving together in a loving home, showcasing the powerful bonds and connections that lead animals to loving homes. ??
