On February 21st, we had the honor of welcoming?Dr. Rebecca Meyer, PhD,?Professor of Nursing at California Baptist University, to the?Gregory Center for Medical Missions (GCMM) Annual Forum. She delivered an insightful presentation on?“Transcultural Considerations When Serving Abroad”, shedding light on the challenges and key principles of providing healthcare in diverse cultural settings. Dr. Meyer brings a wealth of experience in?community health, maternal and child health, and international medical missions. She has spoken at the?Global Missions Health Conference?and serves on their?Continuing Education Committee, helping to shape global health education for medical professionals. Dean's Day Out: Miami Edition ?? ?? ?? This past Thursday, Dean Dana Strachan enjoyed a day filled with fellowship, reconnecting with GSOP alumni and friends in Miami. Highlights included visits to Laffita Pharmacy owned by Malcom Laffita (c/o 2005), Mixlab with 2014 alumna Stephania Perticone, PharmD , AIDS Healthcare Foundation Clinic with 2011 alumnus Adrian Velazquez, and a visit to the great team led by Jenny Martinez Pharm.D., MBA, BCPS, CPh. at Mt. Sinai Medical Center. The day concluded with a wonderful gathering of alumni in downtown Miami, where we had the joy of catching up with Samantha Sam (2009), Yaiseli Figueredo, PharmD, BCPS, BCNSP, CNSC (2014), Salar Habibi (2021), Andre Chung (2016), Dr. Adrian Morera, PharmD, RPh, B.A. (2021), and @Christine Kelly Yocum (2010). It was a fantastic day of reminiscing and celebrating our GSOP community!"

Earlier this week we were honored to host?Dr. Denise Rhoney, Pharm.D., President-Elect of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP)! ?? Dr. Rhoney, who also serves as the Ron and Nancy McFarlane Distinguished Professor at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, delivered a faculty development session on Professional Engagement, sharing her insights on fostering collaboration and improving clinical outcomes through education. A true leader in the field of clinical pharmacy, Dr. Rhoney has dedicated her career to advancing pharmacy practice, education, and research. She earned her Pharm.D. from the University of Kentucky, followed by residencies in clinical pharmacy and critical care, as well as a research fellowship at UNC Chapel Hill and Glaxo. Dr. Rhoney has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and has received numerous prestigious awards, including the 2019 AACP Innovations in Teaching Award. Her 16 years of experience with neurocritical care teams at Wayne State University have profoundly shaped her approach to clinical pharmacy.
