Last week, I had the privilege of meeting with Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner. It was a great discussion about a range of issues, including the critical need for innovative shelter solutions that support individuals experiencing homelessness. We know that safe, dignified shelter is essential to recovery and stability. Pallet looks forward to working with Secretary Turner on efforts to create more dignified, stable options for individuals seeking a path forward. Pallet #MadeInAmerica

We build our panelized shelters from the ground up here at Pallet HQ in Everett, WA. Pictured here is Nick assembling the base of one of our sleeping shelters. Our manufacturing specialists are always hard at work to ship out orders with high quality and efficiency in mind, ensuring communities can receive shelters on a rapid timeline and move their displaced residents inside to safety.

Excited to share the build progress at a new shelter village in Siskiyou County, CA that will serve local residents experiencing homelessness. We are always proud of our deployment team, who work tirelessly to assemble and install shelters that will provide critical safe spaces for people who need it most—in rain, shine, and even snow!

This week, the Pallet Shelter team had the opportunity to meet with the offices of Congresswoman Kathy Castor, Congressman Ted Lieu, and Congressman John Rutherford in Washington, D.C. We had engaging conversations focused on strengthening disaster response and expanding access to transitional shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness. National data shows that investing in dedicated non-congregate shelter models like Pallet leads to significant cost savings for communities and taxpayers alike. Even though using hotel rooms as temporary shelter remains a conventional model, it is far more cost-prohibitive and less effective than non-congregate sites that offer residents the stability and onsite supportive services needed to transition to permanent housing.

It’s a busy month ahead! Our policy team will be hitting the road and meeting with policymakers at all levels of government to discuss policy and budgetary challenges related to homelessness. We are already working with communities across the country to help deploy rapid-response shelter villages that combine personal space with community healing. But much more can be done! Through advocacy and education, we are working to strengthen partnerships focused on finding solutions that will end homelessness and build stronger communities.
