At Pallet Logistics of America (PLA), employee health and safety are our top priorities. Many of our team members work in cold environments, making cold stress a serious concern. Cold stress can lead to severe health risks, but it is preventable with the right precautions. Preventing Cold Stress -Dress in layers of loose clothing; insulate extremities with gloves, hats, and thick socks. -Wear waterproof, insulated boots. -Take breaks in warm areas and drink warm liquids. -Avoid direct skin contact with cold metal surfaces. -Monitor yourself and coworkers for signs of cold stress. Recognizing & Responding to Hypothermia Early Symptoms: Shivering, fatigue, confusion, and loss of coordination. Late Symptoms: No shivering, blue skin, dilated pupils, slowed breathing, or unconsciousness. Response: -Alert a supervisor and seek medical assistance. -Move the person to a warm area and remove wet clothing. -Focus on warming the chest, neck, and core with blankets or skin-to-skin contact. -Offer warm beverages (if the person is conscious). -If there is no pulse, begin CPR immediately. Recycled pallet pricing isn’t random—it follows clear market trends. Take a look at four key factors that drive recycled pallet prices: ?? Demand – When consumers buy more, retailers stock up, manufacturers produce more, and the need for pallets rises. ?? Pallet Company Inventories – High pallet supply = lower prices. Low inventory = price hikes. After record-high inventories in 2024, we’re now back to normal levels. ?? Core Pricing – The availability and cost of cores (used pallets) play a big role in pricing. The “great destocking” led to a surplus in 2024, but that’s changing in 2025. ?? Lumber Costs – Lumber prices impact new pallets, which in turn affect demand for recycled ones.
