Pactum CEO Kaspar Korjus urged European policymakers to support innovation at this week’s Tallinn Digital Summit. The US is further ahead in its embrace of AI agents, he pointed out, such as when Fortune 500 companies conduct autonomous negotiations with suppliers. But Europe also has a leading education system that should be adapting to help better prepare the next generation for an AI-enabled future. The summit, hosted annually by the Prime Minister of Estonia, is attended by political and business leaders from around the world as a key forum for driving public-private sector cooperation. Opening the summit, Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal said our collective task is to demonstrate that technologies can and should be used for democratic, and not for autocratic, purposes. US National Cyber Director Harry Coker added that the strength of our digital future depends on our ability to act together. Smaller suppliers should be treated with the same collaborative approach as large strategic suppliers, argues Fabio Herle in his latest blog post. It's not only fairer. It also provides a bigger competitive advantage. Small suppliers, often more agile and innovative than their larger counterparts, bring unique benefits to the table. Their size allows for quicker decision-making processes, personalized service, and the potential for customized product offerings. An approach that focuses on pressuring these suppliers for lower prices overlooks these valuable contributions, potentially stifling innovation and undermining the resilience of the supply chain. The main challenge until now, however, has been capacity. With the vast number of smaller suppliers, it just hasn't been economical for procurement teams to spend too much time understanding their interests and higher potential contributions. AI negotiation is the new normal for global enterprises, explains michael dumiak from IEEE Spectrum. ?? https://lnkd.in/dMmJaWUM. Michael spoke to industry experts, as well as Pactum CTO Kristjan Korjus who showed him around behind the scenes here and explained how we are helping bring the benefits of autonomous negotiations to the world. IEEE Spectrum is an award-winning tech magazine, dedicated to keeping both the public and 400k IEEE members informed about major tech trends - like autonomous negotiations. The prospect of bot-to-bot negotiations, which Michael hones in on, is a fascinating topic. Certainly, there are many cases where suppliers respond to our AI agents in quite formulaic ways using spreadsheets on their side and so we already see their interest in automating that on their end too. The most important thing is that we are negotiating to create new value together and using AI to scale that exchange of value. Generative AI has a significant part to play in support of autonomous negotiations, such as by sifting through market data. However, we use rules-based AI to fully control the final output and ensure it is always within parameters set by procurement teams managing all this. That's what enables our AI agents to then act fully autonomously on behalf of the world's largest companies and conclude a good deal both for them and the person (or bot) on the other side too.
