Recognizing employees shouldn’t be limited to just one day a year. A culture of appreciation leads to stronger teams, higher engagement, and better retention. At Packed with Purpose, we’ve seen firsthand how meaningful recognition—big or small—makes an impact. Here are three simple but powerful ways to show employees they’re valued year-round: 1. High-Five Awards & Team Shout-Outs Peer recognition is one of the most powerful ways to build team morale. At PwP, we’ve rolled out High-Five Awards, where employees nominate colleagues for their outstanding contributions. Winners are celebrated during our team meetings, reinforcing a culture of appreciation and collaboration. A public shout-out—whether at an all-hands meeting or on a company Slack channel—can go a long way in making someone feel valued. 2. A Handwritten Note from a Manager In a world filled with digital messages, a handwritten note stands out. When a manager takes the time to personally acknowledge an employee’s efforts, it creates a lasting impression. A simple “thank you for your dedication” or a note recognizing a specific achievement can have a profound impact on motivation and engagement. 3. A Personalized Email from Senior Leadership Recognition from leadership matters more than many realize. In fact, 47% of employees say they most value recognition from senior leadership over peers or direct managers (PwP Employee Recognition Report). A thoughtful, personalized message from a company leader acknowledging an employee’s contributions reinforces their value and the company’s commitment to appreciation. Consistent recognition isn’t just good for morale—it’s essential for engagement and retention. How does your organization foster a culture of appreciation beyond Employee Appreciation Day? #EmployeeRecognition #WorkplaceCulture #LeadershipMatters #EmployeeEngagement

The Hiring Edge: Prioritizing Transferable Skills In today's dynamic workplace, the most valuable employees aren't just experts in their fields—they bring adaptable, future-proof skills that elevate entire teams. A recent Forbes Business Council article highlights 20 transferable skills that hiring managers should prioritize. One that resonates deeply with us at Packed with Purpose is creative problem-solving—a skill our CEO, Leeatt Rothschild, emphasizes when building our team. As she notes, “We prioritize and screen for candidates who can think on their feet and create solutions within broad guidelines.” This ability fuels innovation, ensuring that our mission-driven gifts continue to create meaningful impact. Other invaluable skills? Emotional intelligence, championed by Stephen Nalley, which fosters collaboration, and curiosity, highlighted by Mary Kier, as a driver of continuous learning. As leaders, we should ask: Are we hiring for experience alone, or for the skills that fuel long-term success? https://lnkd.in/gtGxkj5w #Leadership #Hiring #TransferableSkills #CreativeThinking #PackedWithPurpose #ForbesBusinessCouncil

Employee engagement is at a 10-year low. Recent findings from Gallup reveal that only 31% of U.S. employees were engaged at work in 2024, the lowest level in a decade. Clarity of expectations is slipping. In 2020, 56% of employees knew what was expected of them—today, that number has dropped to 46%. Fewer employees feel cared for at work. Just 39% strongly agree that someone at work cares about them as a person, down from 47%. Support for growth is declining. Only 30% of employees feel encouraged in their development, a decline from 36%. These numbers send a clear message: organizations must do more to build culture, recognize contributions, and foster real engagement. A simple “thank you,” a meaningful growth opportunity, or an unexpected gift can go a long way. At Packed with Purpose, we believe intentional appreciation drives stronger teams. How is your organization addressing employee engagement? Let’s discuss. https://lnkd.in/gB6kK6rp Gallup Jim Harter #EmployeeEngagement #WorkplaceCulture #RecognitionMatters #PurposeDrivenGifts
