(NYSE: QUAD) announced it is enhancing its integrated marketing solutions offering through a newly expanded relationship with Package InSight, an organization that studies brand packaging performance, consumer attention and shelf impact. Through this partnership, brands and marketers who work with Quad will have access to a unique, data-driven view of how consumers engage with products during the shopping experience to aid in decision-making. Package InSight, a trusted source of consumer research, uses the latest in biometric technology, such as mobile eye-tracking, facial coding and brain activation, to study package performance, consumer attention and shelf impact. The organization uses a strict methodology to provide marketers with the proprietary data they need to optimize ROI on brand creative. This complements Quad’s existing measurement and analytics capabilities, giving brands and marketers an end-to-end view of the customer journey. Clients have access to a physical space at the Consumer Research Lab in Greenville, S.C., to manifest continuous new brand thinking that can be prototyped, tested, refined and produced, enhancing Quad’s unique marketing services and platform. Brands are able to use the space as a mock retail environment to test packaging design and shelf impact in a real-life consumer setting. Package InSight’s research offering will now expand from its current focus on brand packaging to include how brand creative impacts digital, in-store, direct marketing and all brand channels.

Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC) conferences are always fantastic. I’m amazed at the wide swath of people from so many different backgrounds who really want to make a difference. But this year was definitely different. I felt excruciatingly guilty leaving my home, my husband, my pets, and all my extended family and friends in the dark. In chaos. I joked about just going to Chicago for a hot shower. But I was greeted with a big hug from my friend Paul Nowak Sunday and he reminded me that we were there for that exact reason. Storms are getting stronger. Weather is becoming less manageable. And we’re trying to get the genie back in the bottle. At almost every communal meal over the last few days I talked to people with similar stories… friends and family without power, homes and businesses destroyed, lives lost, loved ones missing. But we were all there with the hope that together we can make some positive change. I heard some great speakers, learned a bunch, and managed to get in some laughs with some really amazing people. And I’m headed home today with some renewed spirit, and the aim to be of help as much as I can.

How do consumers make decisions on what goes in recycling and what goes to the landfill? Big thanks to Packaging Digest for featuring my article on our research into this topic! To really “see” what information consumers use, we fitted them with eye tracking glasses and had them sort real packaging into disposal categories. With the increase in EPR legislation it’s important that consumers see your on-pack sustainability messaging to make the right choice. You don't have to be friends with Amy Randall for 30+ years for her to take fantastic headshots for you, but it definitely didn't hurt. I'm forever thankful to have such a supportive friend to help me announce my new role as Director of Client Research at Package InSight by Quad. It's very humbling to have the confidence and support of the Quad ecosystem as we grow our consumer research facility here in Greenville and expand into the midwest later this year. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that I wouldn't be in this place if it were not for very special friends and mentors who met me when I was searching for real purpose and saw potential in me. I owe so much to Pam Donohue, Drew Felty, and Andrew Hurley, PhD and I'll never be able to thank them enough.
