Building on the momentum from the first-ever Western Utilities Wildfire Communications Workshop we hosted last fall, we were honored to join our peers for this year’s event at San Diego Gas & Electric Wildfire and Climate Resilience Center. This workshop brought together utilities from across the West to collaborate on wildfire communications, share best practices, and strengthen strategies to keep our communities informed and safe. Thank you to our utility partners for coming together and to SDG&E for hosting. By sharing knowledge, we’re building a stronger, more resilient future. What started as a simple request to remove an osprey nest turned into an exciting collaboration between Pacific Power, Santiam Canyon School District, and dedicated community members. When lineman Zach Zinda was called about a nest in the football field lights, he saw an opportunity—not just to assist the school, but to create a lasting habitat for the birds. With support from Pacific Power Environmental Analyst Elise Jackson, Regional Business Manager Scott Salazar, Superintendent Todd Miller, and local benefactors, the team built a permanent nesting platform nearby. Now, the ospreys have a safe home to return to each year, and students can watch their journey unfold through a 24/7 livestream. See the nest in action: https://lnkd.in/gd2vFU5R
