Pacific Rim Mechanical

Another great internship program in the books here at Pacific Rim Mechanical for the Summer of 2024! We were joined this summer by students from SDSU and Cal Poly SLO. Our interns gained valuable experience while being stationed on jobsites full time, assisting their assigned APM and PM mentors in their day to day duties. They demonstrated the knowledge they gained while conducting “Capstone Site Walks” where they took their peers and mentors around their assigned jobsites, talking through the various systems and features of the projects. Not only were they challenged to learn, they provided meaningful support to our projects, a win-win for both the interns and the company! We were happy to have them and wish them much success as they return to their studies this fall.

Pacific Rim Mechanical is pleased to have completed this New Construction Project for Qualcomm Building P Chiller #9 Replacement ran by the Projects Service Team. This was a very involved project with many phases; from the Demo of the piping, ductwork, mezzanine and solar turbine, relocation of air compressors to designing an entire new structure, and chiller installation with new electrical/piping. Our subcontractors and Customer were amazing, a great support and worked well with the entire team. We are very proud of our PRM team, construction coming together with service projects displaying quality work and professionalism during this entire 7 month project. Another successful Pacific Rim Mechanical GLA company picnic is in the books! ?? It was a day filled with family fun, exciting games, and fantastic prizes. The highlight of the event was the 2nd annual softball game for the OC group. ?? In an exciting match, the Service team emerged victorious over Construction, clinching the win and taking home the coveted trophy! ???? Looking forward to bringing back the title next year!

While racking of prefabricated copper systems has been commonplace for us over the years, we recently put the same concept into practice with large carbon steel systems for HVAC piping. By racking these systems we were able to save a considerable amount of time on the tower crane, which among other things minimized any interruptions from the picks to the other trades on the project site and freed up the crane quickly for the other contractors to use. ? Hats off to the whole team but especially our entire pipefitting department for continuing to push our prefabrication capabilities from supervision to detailing and the crew. After 17 years of working together my boss Andrew Pina is retiring. He has been a great mentor in my safety career, taught me a lot about compassion and integrity and as a believer he has challenged me to always be better. I also thank him for giving me my first big break and hiring me on with Pacific Rim Mechanical This job has afforded my family and I many great opportunities on and off the job!
