It was an excellent opportunity to collaborate with GeoEngineers Inc. on a complex project at the OB Pier. Our limited-access rig, the Fraste, was set up on the pier deck and advanced the HWT casing approximately 30ft into the midline to core the Point Loma Formation, which dates back to the Cretaceous period, around 60-80 million years ago. During that time, OB was submerged under 200ft of water, and ancient deep-sea landslides shaped our current coastline. Special thanks to Matthew Martinez, PG, CEG, for making this project happen. Our Fraste LAR project is facing a challenging setup due to extremely limited access on the cut slope of a freeway. This job required months of collaboration and discussions with our client. I am excited to see it finally come to fruition.

Beautiful rock core recovery reached depths of 170ft below grade. Our newest truck-mounted drill rig, the SaberCat MTXD, not only has off-road capabilities but can rock core in remote locations. It also has an eSPT hammer, which records blow counts in real-time with hammer calibration per sample and GPS coordinates. Shout out to our crew for working hot days and mitigating challenges in the field.

We had a great opportunity to partner with GEI Consultants, Inc. on a complicated project at Cuyamaca Dam. Our team overcame project complications at the start and delivered quality samples and well installation.
