The Mountain Fire struck Ventura County just one month shy of seven years after the Thomas Fire devastated a 70-mile front that stretched from Fillmore to Goleta. Five days later as the Business Times went to press, some 300 structures suffered damage, hundreds of people remained inside evacuation areas and the long, slow effort of recovery and reconstruction was?just?getting underway. In some ways the region was lucky. https://lnkd.in/gS-gJJZq

With the holiday season fast approaching, the reminder that shopping at local small businesses become so much more crucial. Enter Small Business Saturday, a marketing initiative created and promoted by American Express to encourage holiday shopping on the Saturday after Thanksgiving in the United States. Around the Central Coast, each county and each city will be hosting its own spin on Small Business Saturday, but they all have the same goal –– to get people spending in their own community. https://lnkd.in/g3MXGCrp

Inogen had its strongest quarters in years when it announced the results on Nov. 7 and shares of the Goleta-based company have been rising ever since. Inogen, a manufacturer of portable oxygen containers, saw its shares spike 11% in the days after its third-quarter earnings announcement. For the quarter ended Sept. 30, Inogen produced sales worth $88.8 million, a 6% increase from the year prior due to higher demand and new customer gains across the domestic and international business-to-business channels, which were partially offset by lower direct-to-consumer sales and rental revenue. https://lnkd.in/gUcxNxQP
