On my way home from #AMPath24, feeling really excited about the potential for PacBio technology in clinical applications! It felt like the field is really starting to look for answers in regions of the genome that weren't accessible before, and the improvements we've made for long reads in terms of cost ($750 for a 30x human genome, a benchtop sequencer for $169k!) and input requirements (500 ng for human WGS, saliva compatibility!) make it that much easier for any lab to adopt HiFi. On the short read side, it was clear there is a need for greater sensitivity for low frequency variant detection in liquid biopsy and beyond, and it was awesome to see the enthusiasm for what our SBB technology can do to improve the performance of existing assays with more accurate short-read sequencing. Huge thanks to Lisa Lansdon and Ioannis (Jiannis) Ragoussis for speaking at our Spotlight talk, and I can't wait to see how far we'll come before next year's AMP!
