  • ?? Cheers to 25 Years! ?? Today, we’re celebrating a milestone that’s a quarter century in the making — Happy 25th Anniversary to Mike, aka Grease Man Green! Mike has been an essential part of our Westport Shop team since 2000, starting as a lube man and quickly becoming a go-to road mechanic. Whether he’s behind the wheel of his mechanics truck, a fuel truck, a rollback, or turning wrenches, Mike’s versatility and dedication are truly admirable. • As #WomenInConstructionWeek 2025 comes to a close, we’re celebrating Tangina Dukes, a powerhouse on our asphalt team! With 15 years in construction and joining us in 2024, Tangina has been making an impact every day. We asked her what it means to be a #WomenInConstruction, and here’s what she had to say! ??♀?What inspired you to pursue a career in construction? Well - I went to trade school (Carver Vo-Tech) and my dad kindly push me towards it- being a girl out of 5 and the middle child - with dominant males in your life - let’s say it was kindly all around me?? ??♀?What has been the most rewarding part of your career so far? Knowing that I can build something or be a part of something that I can say I had done and showing it to others that I was a part of it. ??♀?Why do you love working in the construction industry? It’s good money and knowing that being a woman that there’s nothing we can’t do if we put our minds to it. ??♀?What advice would you give other women that want to get into the construction industry? The only thing in construction with being a female is to pace yourself, be patient, do what you can to the best of your ability, don’t get discouraged or let anyone make you feel like you can’t, find your method as long as it stays in the correct goal of getting the job done. #PFlanigan1885 #WICWeek #WICWeek25 #WomenInConstructionWeek2025 #TogetherWeRise

Our next #WICWeek spotlight takes us to China Brown who is one of our Assistant Project Managers! China has been part of the Flanigan Family for almost a year now, in the industry for 5 years but has loved the construction industry since she was a little kid. “As a child I was always interested in hands on activities, building with toys and watching Bob the Builder. Bob the Builder or “Bob” is actually my nickname from my family, especially when I come over to help put together things for everyone.” Let’s see what else China has to say about being a #WomenInConstruction ??♀? Why do you love working in the construction industry? I absolutely love everything about the construction industry between the days in the field watching and learning from the crews, problem solving and decision making, in the office planning and sharing ideas, seeing the final product of the projects and just learning about everyone. Every day is a different day and there is always something new to learn, memory made or story to hear. There will always be a new project out there and being able to say I was a part of that is a special feeling no one can take from you. People may complain about the road work and say I hate all this construction, but this industry truly makes a beautiful impact on our lives and communities. ??♀? What advice would you give other women that want to get into the construction industry? The advice I would like to share for other women that want to get into the construction industry is to strive and stay motivated for what you are passionate for and be true to yourself. It is never too late or too early to start something new, the timing is your own. Work hard, let your work speak for itself. It’s very easy for us to be hard on ourselves on what we believe we can and can’t do as women, don’t limit yourself and stay positive. I hated when I allowed myself to get to the point where I questioned- is this really for me, maybe I can’t do it- I will never allow anything to put me in that mindset ever again because this is everything to me. Be sure to try everything and ask tons of questions. Never stop learning and expanding your skills. Be in a company or organization that truly respects you and that wants to encourage you to enhance your education opportunities. Women have the ability to provide creativity, innovation, a strong attention to detail, organization, and new perspectives in this industry. So blessed to be in a company that has so many great and inspiring women. #PFlanigan1885 #WICWeek #WICWeek25 #WomenInConstructionWeek2025 #TogetherWeRise
