Carbon capture of fossil fuels can have a major impact on CO2 in the environment without much less impact to our standard of living. The technology to concentrate post combustion CO2 exists and is becoming more economical.

The National Carbon Capture Center is excited to announce that CORMETECH’s lower-cost transformational technology – designed to capture at least 95% of carbon dioxide from the flue gas of natural gas combined-cycle power plants – will begin testing at the NCCC in June 2024. CORMETECH will test a specific technology approach that uses monolithic amine contactors to capture CO2.?Think of a honeycomb structure with tiny flow channels for the flue gas to pass through and then an internal porous structure that absorbs the CO2 in the flue gas. Later in the process, the CO2 is desorbed and collected using steam for subsequent storage or use. The NCCC is managed and operated by Southern Company and funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and multiple sponsors, is committed to advancing innovative, viable and cost-efficient carbon management technologies to successful commercial deployment.
