?? As announced alongside the Budget on 30th October, East West Railway Company has officially launched its third non-statutory consultation today for East West Rail (EWR).? The purpose of this non-statutory consultation is to obtain feedback on the early designs, including areas where the company is considering options. Feedback will be taken into account to develop the designs in more detail and select preferred options, help #EWR review potential opportunities and inform plans to mitigate impacts of the project. ?? The consultation will run for 10 weeks, from today. 14 November 2024 to 24 January 2025.? Following the Chancellor’s confirmation of Government support for the East West Railway Company project in this year's budget, non-statutory consultation will start on Thursday 14 November 2024. The consultation will allow East West Railway Company to present their latest design concepts, including areas where they are considering alternative options. Feedback gathered during the consultation will help them further develop and refine designs, which will then be presented at a statutory consultation. Attending the Innovate Cambridge Summit today where Michelle Lamprecht Cambridge Innovation Capital unveiled Innovate Cambridge's new brand and narrative - an inspiring step toward sharing the Cambridge innovation story on a global scale. Kathryn Chapman, Executive Director at Innovate Cambridge, announced the Innovate Cambridge Clubhouse, thanks to Railpen. This new space will serve as a hub for the local innovation community to collaborate and thrive. We also heard from Diarmuid O'Brien University of Cambridge and Michael Anstey CIC, who introduced the Cambridge Pledge, further uniting key players around a shared vision for the region's future. In a session chaired by Andy Neely, The Labour Party MP Daniel Zeichner emphasized the importance of a wider innovation ecosystem, highlighting the links between Oxford, Cambridge, and London, while mayor Nik Johnson Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority called for stronger collaboration between regional mayors to advance the ambitions of the Oxford to Cambridge Partnership. Cambridge and GSK announce a new five-year collaboration aiming for improved outcomes for patients with hard-to-treat kidney and respiratory diseases. The Cambridge-GSK Translational Immunology Collaboration combines University and GSK expertise in the science of the immune system, AI and clinical development with access to patients and their data provided by Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The collaboration is focused on understanding the onset of a disease, its progression, how patients respond to therapies and on developing biomarkers for rapid diagnosis. Ultimately, the goal is to trial more effective, personalised medicines. GSK is investing more than ￡50 million in the collaboration, further strengthening Cambridge’s position as Europe’s leading life sciences cluster. "The University sits at the heart of Europe’s leading life sciences cluster, where excellent research and the NHS’s clinical resources combine with the talent generated by the many innovative bioscience companies that call Cambridge home," said Professor Deborah Prentice, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge. "Through this very important collaboration with GSK, Cambridge will be able to drive economic growth for the UK while improving the health of people in this country and around the world."
