Last week, bill H.R. 9495 threatening free speech and Oxfam’s lifesaving work was passed in the House. But Representatives were flooded with calls from constituents to vote NO and it helped--votes were changed. As this heads to the Senate we have to keep making our voices heard! Call your Senators today at 1-888-252-2329 to urge them to VOTE NO on H.R. 9495. Drop a comment below to let us know you’ve called ??

“I closely track inequality in the U.S. and around the world. Americans should brace for an explosion in inequality under the next Trump administration. The Republican Party is preparing gigantic tax cuts for billionaires and corporations; in 2017, then-President Trump gave the top 0.1 percent a tax cut 277 times larger than the middle-class. Tariffs would burden the poorest. In the firing line are workers’ rights. Our trend data had expected the first trillionaire to arrive within a decade; expect him—and it will be him—to get here sooner.” Today's very richest American's have not only amassed such startling levels of wealth but also power. Nabil Ahmed, Oxfam’s Director of Economic and Racial Justice, breaks down how we got here and the need for a new economic system that listens to people from the bottom up. via Rolling Stone https://lnkd.in/ef-fCyg8

The ultra wealthy produce more carbon pollution in 90 minutes than the average person does in a lifetime. With their private jets, superyachts, and polluting investments, the ultra wealthy are fueling the climate crisis at a rate that is almost unimaginable. The rest of us, especially those most vulnerable and the least responsible for the climate crisis, are paying the price. Hilda Nakabuye, Marinel Ubaldo, Pavel Martiarena and Cynthia Houniuhi remind us why we must call for these rich polluters to be held accountable! It's time to #MakeRichPollutersPay to help tackle the climate crisis and build a fairer future. Demand climate justice.

We cannot let the Trump administration, or any future administration, attack free speech, target opponents, and punish those who dare to express their opinions freely. A bill moving quickly through the House of Representatives could put Oxfam America’s ability to respond to some of the worst humanitarian crises at risk and prevent us from delivering lifesaving aid to some of the world’s most marginalized people. More than 130 organizations—including Oxfam, the ACLU, NAACP, and National Women’s Law Center—oppose this dangerous bill. It is a direct threat to democracy and our freedoms. TAKE ACTION NOW-Tell your representative to protect free speech by rejecting the dangerous bill H.R. 9495

It's true. Oxfam's recent report found the richest billionaires emit more carbon in an hour and a half than the average person does in a lifetime. Thank you for sharing UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres???? It's time to #MakePollutersPay.

Scott Paul, Oxfam America’s Director of Peace and Security on Israel’s failure to comply with U.S. humanitarian demands in Gaza, what our colleagues there feel when the U.S. fails to stand by these demands, and the difference an influx humanitarian assistance would make. Facebook/Linkedin: "To characterize anything that's happened over the past 30 days as progress is a grotesque distortion of the situation on the ground." Scott Paul, Oxfam America’s Director of Peace and Security spoke to BBC on Israel’s failure to comply with U.S. humanitarian demands in Gaza, what our colleagues there feel when the U.S. fails to stand by these demands, and the difference an influx humanitarian assistance would make.

President-elect Trump’s appointment of Elon Musk as co-leader of the Department of Government Efficiency is a shameless display of billionaire excess and undue influence. The Trump administration’s policies are set to fan the flames of inequality by slashing taxes on mega-corporations and the ultrarich, gutting regulatory bodies, and dismantling crucial social programs and protections.
