Oxbridge organizes all sorts of fun activities to entertain participants while immersing them in local culture. But most of these are optional. So, what happens when students decide not to take part? ?? At Oxford or Cambridge, they might grab lunch in the Covered Market in Oxford, or in Cambridge Market Square. They can go for High Tea, show their friends the sites they visited that morning with their classes, or stroll along the river. ???? ??In New York, students might go to the Columbia gym, try some famous NYC food trucks or visit the buzzing parks around the campus. ????????♀? ?? In Barcelona and Paris, they can sample the wonderful cafés and patisseries that sit a stone’s throw from the residences and check out the amazing museums the cities have to offer. ????? The classic Oxbridge experience?????? A bit about the Oxford Tradition: ? The four-week program is housed in Pembroke College, which was founded by King James I, in 1624, where students live in the same rooms as undergraduates do during the university year. ? They pick two courses, a Major and a Minor, from a myriad of choices that includes Medicine, Archeology, Psychology, Politics, Creative Writing or Law. ? When not in class, students have access to a full range of optional activities designed to help them discover Oxford and immerse themselves in English life and culture. They have the option to take tours of local sights like the Bodleian Library and Christ Church, take part in a variety of sports, attend local Shakespeare productions, participate in talent shows, or take field trips to Blenheim Palace and London. #oxforduniversity #pembroke #oxfordsummercourses #oxbridgeacademicprograms

Last summer in Barcelona, one of the Marine Biology Major’s weekly excursions was dedicated to CIRS (research of underwater robotics) in Girona. ?? ?? At the lab, students learned about underwater vision and robotics, how signals travel underwater and emit location, how A.I. is used to explore posidonia meadows in the sea floors, how it is possible to detect underwater corrosion, and how pressure chambers are not only used to test materials’ resistance but become essential tools when research is to be conducted in the meso and bathypelagic zones.
