Every October, we commemorate #EmployeeOwnershipMonth by celebrating the impact of the employee ownership movement. But what exactly is employee ownership? "Employee ownership" is a term for any arrangement in which a company’s employees own shares in their company or the right to the value of shares in their company, according to The National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO). Employee ownership is a broad concept that can take many forms, ranging from #stockoptions, stock grants, synthetic equity (granting the right to the value of shares but not the shares themselves), #ESOPs, worker cooperatives, and employee ownership trusts. The vast majority of Americans believe that the nation is facing a retirement crisis, according to a 2024 survey on Americans’ views of retirement by the National Institute on Retirement Security. The survey also found that more than half of Americans are concerned that they cannot achieve #financialsecurity in retirement.
