?? Our latest ML research paper on Uncertainty Quantification (UQ) in machine learning has been accepted for presentation at AISTATS 2025. ?? We developed a new uncertainty metric for binary classification and validated it along with an existing metric 1???The first metric, UQ-AUC, identifies inputs with a higher misclassification probability 2???The second, UQ-C-Index, detects cases where the model is strongly but incorrectly confident in its prediction ???These metrics can be computed using standard class labels, making them practical to implement Why does this matter? As ML systems become more prevalent in healthcare applications, understanding when our models are uncertain is essential for safe deployment.?However, uncertainty estimation is complex and difficult to validate.?By providing theoretically grounded metrics to evaluate the utility of uncertainty estimator, our findings pave the way for broader adoption of UQ in deep learning applications. ??
