What an incredible start to the morning yesterday, and it’s all about data! Our CEO, Mark Varley, took part in the panel "Expanding the Boundaries – The Founders’ Story," at InsTech’s Exponential Risk London 25 conference, alongside Sarah Russell Founder and CEO of Bellwether, and Todd Rissel CEO of e2Value. The discussion was wonderfully hosted by Nicola Turner, Co-Founder of Scrub AI. The panel explored the ever-evolving demand for high-precision, high-quality data. Mark highlighted this growing need and emphasised the crucial role of data-as-a-service providers like Addresscloud in enabling informed decision-making. When it comes to understanding geographical risk, precision is everything. Addresscloud provides detailed property data and location intelligence, helping businesses make informed decisions and adapt to change effectively. Another key topic was the increasing challenge of accessing open data, this is where the Overture Maps Foundation steps in. Mark discussed how Addresscloud, alongside Meta, Microsoft, TomTom, and Amazon Web Services, is shaping the future of mapping by developing reliable, easy-to-use, and interoperable open map data. This initiative supports developers building map services and leveraging geospatial data. A huge thank you to everyone who joined the session, and of course, to the speakers for sharing their insights on how they’re empowering the insurance industry with smarter risk management! #InsTech #ExponentialRisk #Insurance #Risk #Data #Innovation

The addresses theme added nearly all of California and Florida in the March release of Overture Maps. What is not obvious from just the patch notes is that all the data is actually county level sourced rather than the more typical state or federal sources. The new data has actually more than doubled the number of sources in the addresses theme bringing the count from 87 to 177.

Join us at Cloud-Native Geospatial Forum (CNG) Conference!
I'm excited to be speaking at the Cloud-Native Geospatial Forum (CNG) Conference, among an amazing line up (including Chris Holmes, Lynne Schneider, Kyle Barron, Ben Clark, Tyler Erickson, Brandon Liu, and many more...) in Snowbird, Utah. My talk will be about #data integration, data collaboration, data standards, locations vs. places, why #GIS is still waiting for our "Train Time" moment, why GIS is still too hard, how it might be easier, how more people can (and should!) be using geospatial data, and Overture Maps Foundation's GERS. Will be a great week of talks, discussions, hacking, and more. Join us! ?? Apr 30-May 2 ???Register here:?https://lnkd.in/g5f6UQk9

?? Making Maps Smarter with Open Data Maps help us navigate the world, but without easy access to accurate data, they can fall behind. The Overture Maps Foundation is working to change that by making map data open and connected for everyone. With Amy Rose as its first CTO, Overture is improving how map information is shared and used. Her role in the National Geospatial Advisory Committee (NGAC) will also help bring open data, businesses, and government efforts together to create better, more reliable maps. ?? Why does the national spatial data infrastructure need #opendata? #OvertureMaps CTO Amy Rose breaks it down, discussing the role of GERS IDs, interoperability, and how public-private collaboration can strengthen mapping data for all. ????? Read the blog: https://lnkd.in/eU6_PPDU

How is cloud-native geospatial reshaping the way organizations interact with spatial data? ???? It prioritizes flexibility, changes how data consumers connect, removes friction, and unlocks new possibilities. Join us, alongside Amy Rose from the Overture Maps Foundation and Eshwaran Venkat ? from Dotlas, as we discuss: ? How modern approaches enable scalability across various compute infrastructures ? Eliminating the need to move massive datasets ? The ability for users to work with data wherever they are—whether locally or in the cloud ? The future direction of geospatial technology ??
