    Collaborative content is the future of creation. Let me (Aspen Buckingham) explain. When Steven Jiang and I work together, our content performs better - the numbers don't lie. But why? Because it's social and we're doing it together. As I started thinking more deeply about this, I realized that it has a much broader application than just our content creation process. A social element can completely change the dynamics of any experience. This sparked us to verbalize a new value for our company: "If we're having fun, they're having fun."     If you send a sprinter to run a marathon, they’re not going to finish. The same applies to cooking a steak in a microwave. Which is why we changed this feature for all students. We built an octave changer that gives students the freedom to sing or play in their comfortable range, regardless of whether they are a soprano or a bass. This opens up the game to anyone making it so students can practice in their comfortable range. This taught us an important lesson: inclusivity should always be at the forefront of our minds.     Turns out, we had made a mistake. Musicians who had learned transposing instruments like the clarinet, trumpet or xylophone couldn't play it easily because the visuals didn't match their instruments! So, we did something about it. We added a new feature that would make the game more inclusive. Now, players can choose their instrument and the game calibrates the visuals based on their choice. Now band classrooms can all play! Here's what we learned. When you get feedback from people saying it isn't accessible to them, don't ignore it or brush it aside. Listen to their feedback, and do something about it.     Want to get to know your customers? Try working with kids. Hear us out: At CYC, we work with kids to teach them music. Kids are honest. They'll tell you if they're bored or if they're having fun. No filters needed. At first, we thought our main audience were the parents but as we spent more time with kids, we realized they weren't our true target audience. Instead, we found our biggest advocates and critics: the music teachers. They're the ones who can help our program reach more kids. So, moral of the story: If you really want to know your target audience, work with the people closest to them.
