  • Mi gente Latino! In honor of Hispanic Heritage month, Overture wants to shoutout some Hispanic-owned ad/marketing agencies who are doing great work in the industry right now. Alma - a multicultural advertising agency based in Miami, FL. Alma has worked with Google Pixel, McDonald’s, and Netflix. Republica Havas - with over 400 industry awards (also based in Miami), Republica Havas is a full service creative agency that has worked on campaigns with Banza, Telemundo, and Baptist Health. Captura Group - a Hispanic + digital first full-service agency who has worked with Knorr, Pond’s, and Bimbo. Committed to serving bilingual and bicultural audiences. Hispanic Group - a Latino centered cultural lab who has worked campaigns with Sling, Xoom, and Boost Mobile. Zubi - their founder, Tere Zubizarreta, was the first Hispanic woman inducted into the AAF hall of fame. Zubi Ad has worked with big names like Shell, Burger King, and Ford. Definitely share any Hispanic agencies or people you feel have contributed strongly to the advertising space in the comments! #hispanicheritage #hispanicheritagemonth #latinocreatives

Hi Linkedin! Over the years so many different programs have emerged for Black talent in the advertising industry. So many of these opportunities go under the radar, so we wanted to pool together some programs we would recommend to flex that creative muscle and sharpen your skills. Whether you are a college student who wants more internship opportunities, an ad creative who wants to build a portfolio, or someone who is career shifting into advertising, these programs are a great way to bolster your resume and gain more experience! Oh, and they’re F-R-E-E, word to GloRilla. 1. BLAC Internship Program 2. 4A's Foundation MAIP 3. Marcus Graham Project 4. 100 Roses From Concrete 5. ONE School 6. Droga5 7. D&AD Feel free to comment with any more opportunities you feel would be useful to the community! Definitely take advantage of these opportunities if you can; it’s a great thing that Black/POC creatives have opportunities like this available to us (and you don’t even have to open your purse??). Good luck applying ??

  • The 2020’s seems to have kicked off an unprecedented era for self-improvement advice. Whether it be best selling books, YouTube videos, or LinkedIn posts someone is always sharing how we can be more productive. But is this actually sound advice or is it just toxic positivity fluff? #selfimprovement #toxicposivity

  • What is an industry trend y’all hate? I’ll go first! Brands hopping on oversaturated trends that burn out so quickly. People don’t make albums anymore; they don't make albums. They just try to sell a bunch of little quick singles and they burn out and they put out a new one. This sentiment is true for several industries, just in different fonts. I think oftentimes trends aren’t allowed to breathe and just be enjoyed by the people who are on social media. Some way, some how a company interrupts the fun and tries to hijack the excitement to pitch their product or service. No we do not think your multi-million dollar company is demure—that was for the girls, not a business conglomerate! I think it’s just a reflection of the times. We live in a world where people don’t really sit with things anymore, or let certain things just pass by because they might not be as relevant. As someone who does marketing and advertising for work, but also enjoys being on social media for fun, managing a brand’s place in online spaces is something that I try to manage carefully and intentionally. Very mindful! Hate is a strong word, or so people like to tell me. And while I don’t hate this industry trend, it does sometimes annoy me as a consumer. What are y’all thoughts? When does it make brand sense to hop on a trend? When does it feel disingenuous?

  • So many gems ?? were dropped I shoulda brought a bigger bag ????.

Last week, we attended the Women’s Capital Summit hosted by the Women Business Collaborative where Overture was one of 100 businesses invited (and as a WBENC certified business?). The summit was split half-and-half between women founders and women funders and facilitated thought leadership, growth strategies, and the opportunity to ask funders direct questions like what initiatives are available to women via the U.S. Small Business Administration. We made incredible connections with so many women from across the country and already have follow-up conference dates planned with some of our new friends in business??. (We even bumped into a name twin–shout out to you Teddy!) Thank you to the Women Business Collaborative and WBENC for building an ecosystem that fuels capital growth for women and your commitment to helping women-owned businesses get to the bag! ??? #WBENC #WomenInBusiness #Overture #WomenInFunding #SBA #GrowthStrategies #WomenEntrepreneurs #BlackWomenInBusiness
