Ovation and ONCare Alliance Partner to Advance Biomarker Discovery in Oncology We’re excited to announce Ovation’s collaboration with the ONCare Alliance, representing 32 oncology practices, to create a biobank aimed at generating future multi-omics and accelerating precision medicine. This partnership will integrate real-world clinical data with banked biospecimens and omics data collected at key treatment points, supporting biomarker discovery for high-need patient populations. The initial focus will be on breast and lung cancer cohorts, with plans for expansion in 2025. By linking biobanked samples with EMR data, we’re building a valuable resource to improve treatment strategies and patient outcomes. Here at Ovation, we often discuss how incorporating human genetic evidence into drug development doubles the probability of approval. This finding?is based?on seminal 2015 research published by?Matthew Nelson?and his coauthors in?Nature Genetics. Earlier this month, these authors extended their research with a new study published in?Nature (Nature Portfolio). The study revealed that the impact of genetic evidence is even stronger—increasing success rates by 2.6 times. In some therapeutic areas, the success rate can even quadruple! ? In a recent press release, Nelson emphasized the value of these insights, stating, "These findings further demonstrate that genetic evidence is the most effective means to improve drug discovery and development success rates and R&D efficiency." This latest study underscores that we are far from fully tapping into the potential genetic evidence in advancing therapies to the clinic.
