Outschool.org is the nonprofit arm of Outschool, an online marketplace with over 140,000 live, virtual classes.
关于我们
Outschool.org, the independent nonprofit partner of Outschool, was formed in March 2020 to address financial barriers to virtual learning during COVID-19. Our organization now addresses heightened interest and need for out-of-school learning in under-resourced communities, including but not limited to Outschool classes. We intentionally design our programs with community partners to meet the needs of their learners. Outschool.org is managed as a separate charitable initiative through the Edward Charles Foundation (ECF). Our organization receives funding from a variety of philanthropic institutions, individuals, and companies — including Outschool.

Families' aspirations for their children include creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving - all durable skills fostered by out-of-school experiences. State policy should expand beyond the traditional classroom to increase children's opportunities to thrive. Check out Justin D. and Amir Nathoo on the latest episode of Outspoken. They talk with Rev. Janelle Wood about what led her to create Black Mothers Forum, Inc. and how it evolved to meet community needs.
MLK day has always been a day of great reflection for me. This year, I paused to reflect on the power of the pulpit. Since the early days of black churches, reverends have done so much more than preach — they've acted. Through their words and deeds, they have transformed communities, sometimes nations, with the spirit of their convictions. Rev. Janelle Wood is one such reverend. When spirit called on her to end the school-to-prison pipeline, she acted, and Black Mothers Forum, Inc. was born. It's been an honor to call her a partner and a friend — I've learned so much, and hope you will too. Rev. Wood, was our most recent guest on Outspoken — I hope you'll take a moment to listen and reflect with us. You can find Outspoken on Spotify or wherever you listen to your podcasts.

??? Extra, extra! Check out https://lnkd.in/es8JSvPr ?This joint project between Outschool.org & RESCHOOL?outlines the transformative potential of direct-to-family education funding. The Invest In Families briefs—one focused on policy, the other on philanthropy—are built on a simple yet powerful idea: families, not systems, are the experts in shaping their children’s educational journeys.
