Cloud Engineer | SRE and Open Source | Building Innovative Products That Transform Businesses using Cloud Technology.

Finding the Human Side of Observability Two months ago, I asked myself a question that’s probably crossed your mind too: How do we make sense of systems that feel like black boxes? Turns out, the answer wasn’t just in a single tool,—it was in observability. Coming from a Cloud background, the fundamentals were clear but Cloud-native mostly. With time, late nights configuring collectors, instrumenting apps, and watching traces light up dashboards, thanks to Outreachy , taught me something unexpected: Observability isn’t about chasing metrics. It’s about telling the story of why systems behave the way they do. I decided not just to contribute alone, but to learn more about the companies involved in the Observability space and OpenTelemetry Here’s what I’ve learned along the way: Tools like Dash0 showed me the power of simplicity—OpenTelemetry-native design and pricing that doesn’t hide behind fine print. honeycomb.io changed how I debug. Instead of static dashboards, real-time queries felt like having a conversation with my system. Platforms like Splunk and Lightstep (now acquired by ServiceNow reminded me that adaptability isn’t optional. Complex systems demand flexibility. Why this keeps me up at night (in a good way): In SRE and DevRel, observability is where code meets people. It’s how we turn outages into lessons, metrics into empathy, and complexity into clarity. My work with OpenTelemetry so far has become a mission: to advocate for open standards that prioritise teams over tools and to build solutions that respect both budgets and user needs. What’s next for me? I really want to work with people who see observability as more than a dashboard—it’s a strategic lens for understanding systems and the humans who rely on them. Whether that’s refining SRE practices, amplifying open-source tools, or helping developers tell better stories with data—I’m here for the messy, meaningful work. Open to talk if: - You care about observability that feels human-centered. - You’ve ever winced at a monitoring bill (or celebrated slashing one). - You believe open standards are the future, not just a checkbox. P.S: To the OpenTelemetry community—thank you for your patience with my “aha!” moments and to my Day 1 mentor Marylia Gutierrez and community coordinators Juraci Paix?o Kr?hling and Ihor Dvoretskyi It's really been an amazing and interesting learning journey so far... To everyone else: What’s one insight about observability that surprised you lately? #Observability #OpenTelemetry #SRE #DevRel
