February 24 - March 2 is Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) Awareness Week ?? ROP occurs when abnormal blood vessels grow in the retina. Some babies with ROP experience mild cases that improve without treatment, while others may need medical intervention to protect their vision and prevent blindness. Since the initial signs of ROP aren’t visible, scheduling a screening with an ophthalmologist within a few weeks of birth is crucial for early detection and prevention. According to the National Eye Institute (NEI), by 2030, when the last baby boomers turn 65, the number of Americans who have visual impairments is projected to reach 7.2 million, with 5 million having low vision. ?? While this number may seem intimidating, we are in a period where resources and support have become increasingly available. Last Friday, we came together for our annual company retreat, but this year was extra special because we celebrated 25 years of Outlook! ??
