关于我们
The mission of the Out of the Garden Project is to enrich families by providing them with nourishing food, fostering growth, learning, and thriving. Our vision is to foster connections among people through collaborative partnerships aimed at nourishing families, fostering community, and promoting healthier outcomes. At the Out of the Garden Project, our distinction lies in the unwavering dedication of our volunteers and our steadfast commitment to providing fresh, nutritious food. With a volunteer force numbering between 400 and 600 each month, they form the cornerstone of our organization, infusing our mission with their passion and dedication. What truly sets us apart is our emphasis on freshness - through our Fresh Mobile Market and multiple fresh food drives conducted weekly, we ensure that families in need have consistent access to high-quality, nourishing food options. Out of the Garden Project partners closely with Guilford County schools to support 1,900 students and their families every Friday through Operation Backpack, ensuring they have food for the weekend. The mission is clear: to guarantee that children are well-fed and ready to learn by the time Monday rolls around. Each week, volunteers come together to sort donated food and pack meal bags at our warehouse, which contain 6-8 pounds of non-perishable items, enough to sustain a family of four for two meals. This collaborative effort, fueled by the generosity of our partners and the dedication of our volunteers, is crucial in addressing food insecurity among students and families in our community. Thank you so much for partnering with us to ensure no child needs to go to bed hungry in the Piedmont!
Our annual food drive is underway! The Apple Rock team is proud to support our community during National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week and coming together to collect much-needed donations for Out of the Garden Project. With over 47,000 children and families served in the Piedmont Triad area, their impact is incredible, and we’re excited to contribute to their mission! Proud to partner with you!
The Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship hosted its third Fresh Mobile Market with Out of the Garden Project this week. 110 families received 60 lbs of food for the upcoming holidays. Out of the Garden Project is not only our partner in addressing #foodsecurity in our neighborhood but they also run our shared-use kitchen which provides local food entrepreneurs with a legal certified kitchen to prepare and package food for sale.
