As cities experience growing traffic volumes, commute times are getting longer. In the U.S., road travel increased by 2.8% (+7.9 billion vehicle miles) from October 2023 to October 2024, adding even more strain to outdated traffic systems. Traditional solutions like inductive loops and costly manual data collection can’t keep up with today’s mobility demands. In our latest blog, Asad Lesani, PhD breaks down why lidar-powered traffic actuation is the smarter, more adaptable alternative. By enabling real-time traffic optimization, lidar is reducing delays, improving road safety, and creating more efficient cities. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dRrvhdc3

Listen to Ouster's CEO discuss all things lidar and autonomy, including the benefits of custom silicon chips, everywhere lidar is going, expanding opportunities for software, and more on The Road to Autonomy? podcast! "Ouster has emerged as the largest Western provider of [lidar] technology because we saw this coming, and we built products, and we built a go to market that could serve, not just autonomy for cars, but autonomy for all moving machines... Eventually, I see Ouster supplying autonomy solutions, full-stack, to the majority of our customers." - Angus Pacala
Ouster’s Vision for Autonomy: LiDAR for Vehicles, Robots and Infrastructure Angus Pacala, Co-Founder & CEO,?Ouster joined?Grayson Brulte on?The Road to Autonomy?podcast to discuss how Ouster’s digital LiDAR technology is “enabling autonomy for everything” across traffic control systems, security, robotics, and autonomous vehicles. Founded in 2015 with a vision of “autonomy for everything,” Ouster has emerged as the largest Western providers of LiDAR, differentiating itself through its digital LiDAR architecture. With a diversified approach across multiple markets, Ouster has positioned themselves strongly to benefit from the growth of automation. ?? Listen on Apple Podcasts: https://lnkd.in/em_pUTEG ?? Lidar enabled public transport is safer, more efficient, and designed to benefit all members of society. Congratulations to Otiv on this amazing milestone. Otiv is bringing autonomy to rail and industrial transport with high-performance perception systems. With digital lidar, Otiv’s autonomous trains and trams can detect obstacles, operate in complex environments, and improve safety for passengers and workers. We’re excited to be along for the ride!
?? Advancing Autonomous Rail: testing tram begins operations in Oslo! ? A major step forward for autonomous driving on rail — Monday at 13:30, the prototype unit 455 of the SL18 fleet tram officially entered operations in Oslo, kicking off the Data Collection Campaigns in the framework of the Europe's Rail Joint Undertaking FP2 R2DATO project for the development of the OTIV.FOUR system. For the OTIV team, this milestone is the result of great team work and dedicated efforts in hardware integration, software development, data structuring, and extensive documentation. It has been a complex but rewarding journey, and we’re excited to take the next steps toward smarter, safer, and more efficient rail operations. ?? ?? A special thank you to CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles) and Sporveien AS, for making this possible. We look forward to the insights this phase will bring as we continue advancing automation in rail - the backbone of society. Stay tuned for progress updates! #ERJU #WeAreOTIV #TeamOTIV #automationinrail #pioneeringautomationinrail Pieter Marie Tanguy Niels Sam Luuk

It’s exciting to see open-source innovations like NVIDIA COSMOS driving the adoption of perception-based physical AI and we love to spot Ouster’s 3D lidar sensors in action, delivering the high-precision spatial data that powers this advanced perception. The potential to create meaningful and genuine progress is what motivates us to push forward each day.
NVIDIA Senior Research Manager & Lead of Embodied AI (GEAR Lab). Stanford Ph.D. Building Humanoid Robots and Physical AI. OpenAI's first intern. Sharing insights on the bleeding edge of AI.
Introducing NVIDIA Cosmos, an open-source, open-weight Video World Model. It's trained on a whopping 20M hours of videos (!!) and weighs from 4B to 14B. To put in perspective, 20M hours is like watching YouTube 24/7 non-stop from the age of Roman Empire to today. Cosmos offers two flavors: diffusion (continuous tokens) and autoregressive (discrete tokens); and two generation modes: text->video and text+video->video. Physical AI has a big data problem. Synthetic data to the rescue! We apply Cosmos to large-scale synthetic data generation for robotics and autonomous driving, and now you can too! It's all yours to finetune.
