On Monday, November 11, 2024, we observe Veterans Day. Initially known as Armistice Day, this day is dedicated to honoring the bravery of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. November 11, 1918, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, a temporary cessation of hostilities was established between the Allied forces and Germany during World War I, which was then referred to as “the Great War.” Since that day we have continued to pay tribute to all American service members, both past and present, every November 11th.
I invite you to join me in recognizing the courageous individuals who serve alongside us here in OUSD (R&E). It is a privilege to collaborate with each of you, as you embody a vital link in the chain of honor that safeguards the freedoms we cherish daily.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all current and former veterans within R&E for their unwavering commitment to supporting and defending our great Nation.
Wishing you a safe and enjoyable long weekend.
Sincerely,
Heidi
