Decarbonizing the construction industry by turning CO2 into low-cost high-performance composite building materials

关于我们

We're a materials innovation startup making the next generation of building materials to decarbonize construction's embodied carbon problem, which makes up a whooping 11% of total global GHG emissions. Our composite materials innovation are strong, fire-resistant, super-tough, and uniquely machinable -- all produced with a proprietary energy-efficient process that uses 80% less heat compared to the traditional ceramics manufacturing. Our process also mineralizes CO2, allowing us to reach ultra-low carbon footprints. We're commercializing this technology out of the renowned Rutgers Riman Lab with a team that has collectively 40+ YOE commercializing new building materials.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of moderating a panel at the NYC CarbonTech Showcase, hosted by the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability and the The OpenAir Collective. Thank you to the nearly 100 attendees and over a dozen companies for joining our discussion on the critical role of carbon emission reduction, removal, storage, and utilization pathways in meeting New York's #netzero by 2050 goal! It was inspiring to see the vast #carbontech ecosystem in New York, comprised of new and old companies of all sectors, thriving due to a supportive policy landscape both at the city and state level! Thank you to Christopher Neidl for sharing your talent for organizing with the CDR community, both in New York and across the United States. Thank you to the team at the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability for co-organizing and for hosting this event on your beautiful Roosevelt Island campus! Thank you to the brilliant panelists for sharing insights from decades of experience in your fields: Giana Amador, Ben Furnas, Aidan Preston,?Jeff Hansen,?Greeshma G.,?Brendan Hermalyn, and?Teresa Liu.

I'm thrilled to be speaking at the NYC Carbontech Showcase 2025 hosted by the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability and The OpenAir Collective next Monday, Dec 16th! This showcase will explore how New York City is emerging as a global leader in carbon removal technologies and the critical that role cities and local policy play in advancing negative emissions. Our panel on "New York’s Homegrown Carbontech Ecosystem" will focus on local innovation, carbon-to-value technologies especially serving the built environment, and NYC's unique landscape for climate tech companies. Whether you’re an entrepreneur, investor, policymaker, or sustainability advocate, this event will offer invaluable insights into the carbontech revolution happening right here in the five boroughs. Hope to see you there!

Our team had the pleasure of attending the Greenbuild International Conference & Expo last week, and we’re feeling inspired! ?? Starting a carbon-negative building materials company is no small feat, but connecting with manufacturers, architects, builders, and developers who share our vision to decrease carbon emissions from the construction industry reminds us of our critical mission at Ouros Materials. Some key highlights included exploring the carbon-storing materials pavilion hosted by RMI, touring the expansive Saint-Gobain and CertainTeed offices in Malvern, PA, and meeting so many potential sustainable suppliers and partners for our products. A huge thank you to U.S. Green Building Council and everyone we met for making Greenbuild such an invigorating experience. We hope to exhibit our carbon-negative products next year at Greenbuild 2026 in LA! ??
