?? Warren Township’s Pleasant Run Elementary's hard efforts to improve reading skills are paying off. ?? Pleasant Run is using a small group approach when it comes to third-grade reading comprehension. Allowing students to focus on reading and writing skills adjusted to their own needs has allowed for the schools’s IREAD scores to jump from 21.5% points the last year. ?? This Early Childhood Education Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program gives students real-world experience and a jump start on their teaching careers. ?? Combining high school courses, dual credits, and dual enrollment options, participants can earn high school or college credit while furthering their early childhood education career. ?? Congratulations to New Palestine Elementary, Eden Elementary Schools, and Fortville Elementary for earning 95% or above on their IREAD scores. In social studies, CBIS teachers Mrs. Mayfield and Mrs. McCarthy hosted a mock election to teach students about the voting process. Students participated in a blind taste test and then voted on which they thought was better, Pepsi or Coke. Each student represented a state, which taught them about how electoral votes work.

?? Aspiring teachers can now apply for the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship for up to $40,000 of financial aid. The Indiana Commission for Higher Education is accepting applications through January 31, 2025. Students must meet one of three academic requirements to apply: ?? Rank in the top 20% of their graduating class. ?? Have a top 20th percentile score on their SAT or ACT ?? Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
