Let’s talk tech! 👨🎓 👩🎓 We sat down with Bob Everson and Sara Gruvin from HMSA’s Information Technology (IT) department to learn more about their experience as freshly minted graduates of the 20th cohort of The Technology Leadership Experience (#TheTechLX)! TechLX, presented by Ouellette & Associates, is a nine-month, in-depth learning journey that focuses on leadership development for IT professionals. HMSA started sending its IT leaders to TechLX about four years ago. Since then, more than 15 managers have graduated from the program. Rick Hopfer, HMSA’s chief information officer (CIO), believes in the value of programs like TechLX, which offer “upskilling” opportunities or learning to expand on skills related to one’s role. “Our IT leaders have professionally and personally benefited from the TechLX program,” Hopfer says. “They bring back valuable skills and insights that help HMSA achieve our goals and objectives within our department and throughout the organization.” Everson and Gruvin have been key members of HMSA’s IT department for a combined 30 years (Everson since 2016 and Gruvin since 2003). Both are HMSA solutions delivery managers – Everson with support and outreach teams and Gruvin with data integration. “TechLX was an exciting experience that strengthened my management, collaboration, and team building skills,” says Everson. Gruvin shares, “I’ve gained lots of useful insights that have enhanced my leadership abilities to foster a more innovative and efficient work environment.” Hopfer was a guest speaker at the 20th TechLX cohort’s virtual graduation ceremony in early February. “It was an honor to speak at the graduation to support our HMSA graduates and share some of my insights as a CIO,” Hopfer says. “Rick was awesome and demonstrated excellent presentation and communication skills during the ceremony.
