The University of Oklahoma Student Chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (OU SPE) is a large and active organization designed to help any student interested in learning more about the Oil and Gas industry. As part of SPE International, we share their goal to disseminate and exchange technical knowledge concerning the exploration, development and production of oil and gas resources, which is done through our bi-monthly Tech Talks. In addition, OU SPE is dedicated to helping undergraduate and graduate petroleum-engineering students find full-time jobs and internships, so we collaborate with Career Services, energy companies, and the OKC SPE chapter to co-host networking and career fair prep opportunities throughout the year. We also host lunch and learns and tutoring courses to help students continue their learning outside of the classroom, as well as a wide variety of social events to help build a positive community within the college

Last Friday, five Society of Petroleum Engineers - University of Oklahoma Student Chapter students had the opportunity to tour Helmerich & Payne's Tulsa headquarters as well as their test rig on site, H&P 918. Thanks to Society of Petroleum Engineers - Oklahoma City Section for organizing the tour. The group had a great introduction with Mike Lennox and had a tour of the Remote Operations Center. We also had the pleasure to hear from and meet with Simon Seaton, the CEO of Society of Petroleum Engineers International. The day concluded with a tour of the FlexRig machinery center and a tour of Rig 918, where floor automation is currently being tested. We had a great time and thanks to all volunteers that made this possible!

A few weeks ago, we were able to take 46 Society of Petroleum Engineers - University of Oklahoma Student Chapter students to ATCE 2024. We are extremely appreciative to Society of Petroleum Engineers - Oklahoma City Section for sponsoring us, as well as Mewbourne Oil Company as our polo sponsor. Our trip would not have been possible without these contributions. Thanks to our conference chair Eloan Trejo for organizing the trip, as well as the rest of the executive board: Lucas Livingstone, Jackson Robbins, Jonathan Highfield, and Lindsey Kubsch. We were also able to compete in PetroBowl. Thanks to our PetroBowl team Julio Rojas, Morgan Levrets, Faith Grayson, Elvin Allahverdiyev and Gurban Hasanov for their hard work and dedication. We were also able to accept our Presidential Award for Outstanding Operations & Planning. Thank you to all students and alumni support and we look forward to a great rest of the year!

We had a great turnout tonight for our first Tech Talk of the year. We had our program director, Dr. Nygaard give us an overview of the industry and the state of OU MPGE.
