Shoutout to the legendary Tim Draper for stopping by the Otter.ai office for a fireside chat with Sam Liang about his investment strategies and more! Tim's early investments in companies like Tesla, SpaceX, Coinbase, Twitter, and Docusign is a testament to his incredible foresight and his support of Otter has been instrumental from the very beginning. Tim, we're honored to have you on our journey. ?? ?

Helping Franchisors Grow and Increasing Profits for Franchisees

Yesterday I held a Zoom call with one fledgling #franchise client and two AI bots. Unplanned, we both elected to use Otter.ai to quietly take notes of our 2025 #franchisedevelopment strategy session. Within 5-10 minutes after our call, we both received email summaries with a brief list of Action Items, a Summary Outline, Suggested Questions and nearly two dozen screenshots of my various screen shares. There was even a near verbatim transcript of our conversation with speech recognition that was at least 90% accurate. This morning I copied our Summary Outline from Otter and pasted it into yesterday's calendar event. I'm sure there's an automated way to do that, but a simple copy and paste does the trick. It will give me a searchable record of our call that I (or my future AI agent or #virtualassistant) might need to reference a few weeks or a few years down the road. This is a powerful yet easy to use #ai tool - especially when shared among a group, tribe or department for further collaboration and future actions. If you spend more than a few hours of your life each week on Zoom, this free plug-in deserves your immediate attention.

Otter.ai GenAI for live meeting notes, summaries, AI chat for team collaboration. WSJ Top 10 AI App.

Stanford University Professor?David Cheriton?wrote the very first check of $100K to Larry Page and Sergey Brin to start Google in 1997. Then, he wrote the very first check to Diane Green and Mendel Rosenblum to start VMware (a $69B company). He also created multiple companies himself, including cofounding Arista Networks, a $123B company. These showed that he had the unusual vision to pick the future winners really early on day 1. I was fortunate to be selected by David as one of his Ph.D students, and I learned so much from him. David wrote a check to help start Otter.ai in 2016, and continued to invest in Otter in every round. Now Otter is the biggest independent AI Meeting Assistant, and continues to grow rapidly. Our goal is to build a $10B+ company to get closer to some of his other investment successes. We are looking for more AI scientists, and other engineers. CEO @ Pavilion | Co-Host of Topline Podcast | WSJ Best Selling Author of "Kind Folks Finish First"

After GTM2024, Pavilion has momentum.?But there’s still tremendous risk.?Here are the top 7 mistakes we are most likely to make in 2025: 1. Expanding too rapidly into new markets or segments without solidifying existing ones. This could lead to diluted efforts and resources, potentially compromising the quality of service in established areas. 2. Over-investing without first resolving one of your business line’s structural issues. Given the current challenges in this segment, pouring more resources into it without addressing root causes could lead to continued underperformance. 3. Neglecting the core membership experience while pursuing new initiatives. As you explore premium tiers or other new offerings, there's a risk of not maintaining the quality and value proposition for regular members, particularly Executives and Associates. 4. Failing to properly integrate and leverage technology investments. With discussions about improving CRM and other systems, there's a risk of implementing new tools without fully utilizing their capabilities or properly training staff. 5. Underestimating the importance of community management and engagement. As the organization grows, maintaining the sense of community that has been central to Pavilion's success could become challenging. 6. Not adapting quickly enough to changing market conditions or member needs. The professional development landscape is evolving rapidly, and being too slow to pivot could result in missed opportunities. 7. Overcommitting to long-term strategies without building in enough flexibility. Given the uncertain economic environment, locking into inflexible long-term plans could be risky. Want to know what’s amazing about this list (besides its accuracy)? I didn’t write it.?Otter.ai did. That’s because I make sure to bring Otter into every single one of my meetings these days. And then I can use the native AI tools within Otter to ask detailed questions, across all of my conversations with Members and my team, to distill and uncover key themes. Some of the questions I’ve asked include: What are the top challenges Pavilion will face in 2025? What is the biggest growth opportunity Pavilion has in 2025? What critical areas are we currently overlooking? TAKEAWAY Everyone that works at Pavilion brings their Otter into every meeting these days.? Making sure every meeting is recorded creates the biggest possible dataset from which powerful LLMs can unearth and uncover key insights and trends. And using those trends we can all make better, more efficient decisions across the entire organization, driving both growth and alignment. This is the way.
