Incredible story showing the importance of cargo delay insurance! #MaerskSaltoro #Chile #Cherries - Chilean cherries worth $60-130 million have been rejected by Chinese customs after being stranded at sea when the container ship Maersk Saltoro broke down in the Pacific. - The vessel, part of the seasonal "Cherry Express" service from Chile to China, was carrying about 1,300 containers of cherries intended for China's Lunar New Year celebrations. - The ship drifted for three weeks before technicians could make repairs, resulting in a 28-day delay that caused the shipment to miss the peak sales period. - Despite remaining refrigerated throughout the journey, a substantial portion of the cargo was spoiled upon arrival. Chinese customs initially rejected the entire shipment and ordered it destroyed or re-exported, though the Chilean Cherry Committee is negotiating to minimize disposal. https://lnkd.in/e-rrsJpQ
