If there is a field problem or an upgrade is required, OTA employees are onsite to provide solutions and improvements. We have mechanics present in the field throughout the oil patch. Diamondback Energy continues to expand its control of the Permian Basin. On February 18th, it announced that it would buy subsidiaries of Double Eagle Energy Holdings IV LLC, which includes 27 Mboe/d production and 40,000 acres in the core of the Midland Basin. Valued at $3 billion in cash plus 6.9 million shares of FANG stock, the deal should close in April 2025. According to Diamondback’s press release, “Double Eagle is the most attractive asset remaining in the Midland Basin”. But is the purchase environmentally attractive? Oil and gas companies ought to consider this question, in light of growing disclosures and attention from investors, regulators and the public. To understand Double Eagle’s position in the Permian and what makes them attractive, OTA Environmental Solutions and ESG Dynamics ran a benchmark assessment of similarly sized oil producing operators. The benchmark covered 12 companies with similar producing well counts and hydrocarbon production ratios. Utilizing company-reported public data, we found that Double Eagle had the second lowest methane intensity of the benchmark group at 0.0298 kg/BOE. This is lower than Diamondback’s 0.0418 kg/BOE meaning this acquisition will have an immediate positive impact for Diamondback’s emission metrics. PRESS RELEASE: https://lnkd.in/g2vSga5P
