The winds seem to be blowing strong overseas. In a report from Denmark based Rystad Energy, the global offshore wind industry is set to add an additional 19 GW's of power in 2025. And the bulk of that will come from - drum roll please...... China. You can read more here https://lnkd.in/eP3TJjg7 #windenergy #globalenergy #careers

Some promising wind news. ?rsted announced earnings of $3,237,973,202 USD from their offshore projects. That's up about 20% from the prior year. We can all thank - in part - our own South Fork wind farm, producing energy and meeting all its obligations. A big milestone for composite recycling has been achieved. The 3 year wind blade project to perfect the breakdown and ultimate reuse of wind blades, has reached an industry-scale milestone; commercialized?recycling of wind turbine blades. Run by the DecomBlades innovation project, along with a host of international partners including Siemens Gamesa and Vestas, and as reported in CompositesWorld, the group "was able to extract and process?the principal component — glass fiber?—?from a retired 37-meter wind blade to such a high quality that the material can be melted and used in the production of new wind turbine blades." When you think about all the FRP in the world, this process once scaled could keep not only industrial plastics out of our land-fills, but consumer products as well. Think boats, RV's, etc. Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/e43UJfQc? #composites #recycling #renewables #manufacturing #innovation

The outlook for energy consumption is only going in one direction, UP! AI, Crypto, chip plants are all huge consumers of electricity, one could say obscenely huge (not including DeepSeek AI in this). Most energy experts agree that only by tapping multiple energy sources will we be able to provide the capacity required. One interesting clean tech solution that has been around since the 1930's and now coming back into view is Pumped Storage Hydropower. Not overly complicated and totally able to integrate with the grid in an on-demand fashion. In fact, the New York Power Authority generates 25% of our energy now through clean technology, with 80% of that coming from our Hydroelectric plants. Excellent U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) video on how this works. https://lnkd.in/dZXqpzgb #power #energy #renewableenergy #grid #hyrdrogen #hydropower #hydroelectric

Trying to keep up with the shifting sands in energy. Here's a bit of clarity on the cancellation of the Vineyard Offshore / Vineyard Mid-Atlantic's virtual public meeting with BOEM this week in preparation for their Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). While true, the online event has been cancelled, the public can still send written comments in support of the company at www.regulations.gov?under Docket No. BOEM-2025-0002 until the public comment period closes on March 3rd, 2025. Energy is coming from everywhere. Offshore, onshore, solar, thermal. And then there's the grid! All that energy has to get captured, managed, routed and rerouted. Tomorrow at 9:30, sign on for a informative webinar from the Regional Plan Association and learn about the massive Propel NY Energy grid project. Registration is open: https://lnkd.in/ejisHYEp #energy #powergrid #energyprojects #energyinfrastructure

NYSERDA announces the next Learning From the Experts event on February 12. This time around, learn how State offtake contracts for offshore wind are being designed to incorporate flexible and adaptive terms that manage financial risks.? Offtake agreements you say? Simply put "An offtake agreement is a legally binding contract between a producer and a buyer, where the buyer commits to purchase a certain amount of the producer's future output." In this case, someone produces energy, and someone else purchases it, and the financing happens from there. Register: https://lnkd.in/e-di7fEf #renewable #energy #education

I think this headline says it all. Go UK! "The UK government has unveiled measures to unlock up to 13 offshore wind projects, which could generate up to 16 GW of electricity and potentially bring GBP 20 billion (approximately EUR 23.9 billion) to GBP 30 billion (about EUR 35.8 billion) of investment in homegrown clean power." #offshorewind #energy #renewables Read about it. https://lnkd.in/eREqXAph

Italian based Prysmian Cable is not moving forward with the development of a large offshore wind cable factory in Massachusetts for the New England Wind 1 and 2 projects. The reason stated was a large backlog of work in Europe for their interconnectors and a smaller offshore demand for product in the U.S. They are promising to maintain a continuing presence stateside for other areas of energy.
