As we come to the end of 2024, and as I prepared this Merry Christmas-Holiday Season and Pre-New Year 2025 Greeting Card from all of us at IFG to all of you in the aerospace industry; I reflect on the last 32 years of interacting with all of you, esteemed colleagues and industry friends and some of you, indeed, family as well. This photo appeared in my office, coincidentally, today, check out the time stamp, exactly 30 years ago to the day, and even possibly the hour, I recall as if it was yesterday, but 30 years have gone by...Fast!. I was a young Captain, and that day I was flying from Mexico City to Madrid, with another 747 Captain, my father. For me, from airline Captain to CEO, a long, exciting and "fast" journey. No one can "buy" time, but indeed we can make time on earth more efficient, productive and firendly...by flying faster. AIAA and the over 100 participants from more than 50 entities that made this edition one of the most productive and powerful events to enable high speed flight at all levels: supersonic, hypersonic and sub orbital. Indeed, even though we missed SpaceX , we were very aware of how busy they were with the preparations for IFT 6. We watched live the following Tuesday (Nov 19th); both the launch and its flawless recovery, the first daytime splash down in the Indian Ocean in 65 minutes ! Impressively, including the large interior images of the vehicle, Zero G-hanging banana indicator, as the first ever high speed suborbital payload;)...the scene inside the fairing was almost "surreal" , quiet, silent, considering the vehicles was traveling at close to 20 times the speed of sound and close to a million feet high! The era of crossing the world anywhere within one hour is here, and thus, I will leave you with Tony Bela's legendary IFT 6 "infographic" for your inspiration and review. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your High Speed Flight Captain speaking. we are T+ 4 Days since we lifted off at HSAT AIAA's edition. Indeed, the most successful and well attended HSAT AIAA Workshop edition, now aiming towards our first decade of leadership in the high speed aerospace transportation industry gathering worldwide. We missed our SpaceX Starship friends, they were busy with their IFT 6 preparations, and today, IFT 6 flew and crossed the world from Southeast Texas to the Indian Ocean in 64 minutes. Godspeed Starship, the 1 Day World is around the corner. The flight was almost "routine" and the future of out and back to anywhere in the world in one business days looms closer. We are bullish on Starship flights carrying cargo and, or passengers in the near future. At HSAT we kicked off the Spaceport to Spaceport International Airspace White Paper 2.0. Perfect timing to prepare the flight rules for Starship and other suborbital vehicles to emerge, develop, proliferate and industrialize to scale.
