Osborne are delighted to have been shortlisted as a finalist in the Constructing Excellence SECBE Awards 2024 for our BNJC (Brighton & Hove Jewish Community) Building. This project delivered beautifully designed and sympathetically crafted new buildings which provide the community with a Synagogue, Mikveh, Townhouses, Apartments, Gym, Café, Kitchen, Event Space, Offices, Nursery space and classrooms. ? Mike Smedley, Managing Director said: “I would like to extend further congratulations to the Renaissance Project Team for having delivered this remarkable project which has now been shortlisted as a finalist for the Constructing Excellence SECBE Awards 2024. This is a fantastic achievement and I wish the team the best of luck”. ? It was great fun for Osborne to be involved with the Kier Construction Career Hub event as part of the Procure Partnership Framework, working with students studying at London South East Colleges. LSEC is a client of both Kier and Osborne currently working at their Plumstead and Bromley campuses, respectively. As well as our very own Senior Bid Manager, Edward Hordley, the students listened to employees from Kier, Encon, Conamar and Getjar regarding their career paths, the varying roles of engineers and how we could benefit them in their construction journey. Following this, the students were tasked with a team exercise to construct a bridge in 20 minutes using only straws and tape. The winning team impressed everyone with the design and structural integrity of their bridge, as it could hold three bricks. Most bridges were able to manage the weight of at least one brick. With the completion of main contractor Osborne's Pelham Street project in Brighton, we wanted to take the opportunity to reflect on the significant social values contribution that our project partnership has delivered. ?Over the 18 months, our construction divisional manager Dan Branch and team placed 97 operatives including traffic management, lifting teams, general labour and site management. ?CSR initiatives included working with Fedcap to place individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds into a community project. ?Taster Day support, including site walks and professional talks to help the next generation and those interested in the construction industry. ?Championing upskilling and development, with the incredible story of Jayden, work placement to trainee site manager, to full-time employee.
