SSA Tavares brings a wealth of experience—previously serving as the Diplomatic Security Service’s (DSS) Division Director for Physical Security, overseeing security across 170+ countries and leading the modernization of the risk management process. He was Deputy Regional Security Officer (RSO)?at?U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq; RSO?at?U.S. Embassy Manama, Bahrain; RSO at U.S. Embassy Vientiane, Laos; and Assistant RSO?at?U.S. Embassies in Iraq, Colombia, and Afghanistan. Domestically, SSA Tavares served?in the DSS Miami Field Office, the Dignitary Protection Division, and in the Office of Overseas Protective Operations. A native of Guam and proud Marine, SSA Tavares joins OSAC after 24 years in public service and says he's looking forward to ensuring that OSAC is successful and well prepared to serve our membership now and into the future! #InsideOSAC U.S. Department of State
