What happens when two OU leaders sit down with their mentors? You get a conversation filled with a trip down memory lane, career-defining advice, unexpected insights, and plenty of wisdom. In the latest Oh, You? Podcast episode, our EVP Josh Joseph sat down with our CHRO Josh Gottesman, MBA, SHRM-SCP to talk about his leadership journey, the lessons he's learned, the challenges he's faced, and the mentors who helped shape his career. We took that conversation a step further with a live panel at OU HQ, featuring the Josh duo and their own mentors, Yeshiva University President Emeritus Richard Joel and Lenny Bessler, MBA, SPHR, SHRM-SCP. Together, they explored the impact of mentorship, the pivotal moments that shaped their careers, and how great leadership is built over time. It was a powerful reminder that behind every great leader is a mentor who helped guide the way. Who has been a mentor in your life? Drop their name in the comments and give them a shoutout! The October 7 image of Shiri Bibas captured the essence of that dark day and the contrast between its two sides: a horrified and fiercely protective Jewish mother shielding her beautiful children from the rampaging Hamas monsters lacking even a shred of humanity. For 500 days we hoped that the joyous innocence of Ariel and Kfir would overcome the darkness of their captors, but only because we continue to naively underestimate the depths of Hamas' depravity and hatred of anything human, as further demonstrated by their diabolical separation of the children from their mother. Peace will come with moral clarity, when the world recognizes and upholds the human side of this conflict and erases the utter wickedness of the unrepentant promoters and celebrants of evil. We share in the grief of the Bibas and Lifshitz families and we continue to pray for Shiri, the other remaining hostages and their families. ??????????

“K’ish echad belav echad.” That was the energy at the Orthodox Union's Biennial Convention and Gala. Every Ish (individual) brings their Lev (heart), their passions and talents, so that together, we can strengthen our community. This is something we do at the OU. Yes, we’re famous for OU Kashrut, but “beyond the symbol”? We advance communal solutions with so many individuals contributing their skills towards advocacy, education, belonging, and so much more. But this lesson is not just for our team. Every Jew has a role, whether as a lay leader, a professional, a volunteer, or advocate. One nation, with countless individuals who can use their skills to move our community forward.
