Been thinking about the relationship between service and product. It seems like many people draw a line between these two and think you're either a product-based company or a service-based company. But I'm wondering if it's that cut and dry. Much of what we do at Orpical starts with service and ends with delivering a fully developed product, but then that product gets shipped, looping back into providing a service. I believe wholeheartedly that products are a byproduct of people.?So, if that's the case, isn't product development just a service to develop people? It's kind of ugly, but we are contracted to deliver a service as a professional service provider. (Yes, team. I'll put a $1 in the swear jar for using the c-word.) The service we agree to provide ultimately entails some form of product development. But the more I think about it, we are agreeing to help develop the people behind the product. To give them back their time. To provide a utility. To serve an audience that they are passionate about. That's pathway paving for human potential at its finest. And that sounds a hell of a lot a hell of a lot sexier than product development, doesn't it? It might be semantics, but it's the truth. Every product tells a story. It goes beyond just technology and design. It goes to the people behind it... their challenges... their creativity... their dreams... The more I think about it: the real goal for service-based businesses needs to be to do whatever it takes to enable clients to produce more, whatever production means to that individual. That's real service. That's key for survival where almost all service components are being rapidly commoditized through technology. If not, you're just building empty containers to nowhere. The more you can connect to the person you serve and the product they need your help to build, the more you elevate a transactional relationship into a transformative journey. The more you become invested in the story and the outcome.

AI is automating basic development. But here’s the catch: understanding system architecture, business logic, and how to leverage AI for real-world impact is what matters most. The question isn’t who can code—it’s who can think, ask the right questions, and execute. If you’re hiring, don’t just look for coders. Look for business strategists who know how to use AI as a tool. #AI #TechLeadership #BusinessStrategy Orpical Technology Solutions

I love humans, but we sure are a stubborn species, aren’t we? And the more stubborn we are, the more firepower we give to super organizations that are begging for a reason to go all in on trusting machines. Can you blame them? After all, if you've been burned over and over by human unpredictability, looking for something more reliable becomes pretty damn tempting. What's the definition of insanity again? In machine learning, models improve by reinforcing patterns. Similarly, our careers are shaped by the patterns we establish through our decisions. How we engage, the responsibilities we own, the way we come, the way we go ... each and every action leads to an equal and opposite reaction. Hear that? That's your professional trajectory ricocheting somewhere in the future. Yet, we are stubborn humans. We don't listen to what will be "down the road." We default to short-term relief, mistaking movement for progress. It's crazy because organizational psychology tells us that career growth and fulfillment isn’t just about skill acquisition and monetary growth. It’s about compounding trust and connection. The kind of trust and connection that forms when people know they can count on you, not just for what you do, but for how you show up. It's not even debatable. AI is rapidly automating hard skills. In a world where technical knowledge can be more easily and more cost effectively replicated, relationships and credibility are the only durable assets. The professionals (the humans that get the human part of business) that build a reputation for ownership and follow-through will separate themselves. The humans who treat jobs as transactions? Woof. Good luck. It's only a matter of time before they soon find themselves optimized out by the very pattern they’ve reinforced. Humans are stubborn, sure. But our capacity to learn, adapt, and build meaningful connections remains unparalleled. I wholeheartedly believe that by embracing accountability and nurturing trust, we can navigate the evolving landscape together and make sure that technology serves as a tool to enhance our human potential, not replace it. In the end, it's our uniquely human traits like empathy, creativity, and the ability to grow that will keep us indispensable, no matter how advanced machines become. Machines can learn patterns, but can they learn relationships? Maybe. Maybe not. But I'd be willing to bet that the ones that are training these machines would be less motivated to do so if more humans could prove them otherwise.
