?? Last week was our Delay Analysis Masterclass and Cocktails Party, hosted for the first time at our offices in Barcelona. Our panelists Ginta Ahrel (Stockholm), Nathan Morali (Paris), Robin Wood (London), Ignacio Santabaya (Madrid) and our founding partner Ama?l Olivier covered delay analysis from a conceptual point of view, connecting key features of delay methodologies with local jurisdictions and good practices across Europe, "from the cold North to the warm South". Parallels were drawn between delay analysis and the ongoing America's Cup regatta in Barcelona (?? hence the official hat!). Is the yacht farthest behind truly the most delayed? Do the skippers 'wait and see' before adjusting their courses? We then touched on the complexities brought by Project Z, the construction of a gas powerplant where a contractor proactively undertakes a constructive acceleration which is subsequently shadowed by a larger delay event: was the acceleration in vain? Could it still be claimed? As often is the case: it depends! ?? Estos eventos, unos de los más importantes en el ámbito del arbitraje internacional en Espa?a, Europa y países de habla hispana, reunió a los mejores profesionales del sector. These events, among the most important in the field of international arbitration in Spain, Europe, and Spanish-speaking countries, brought together the best professionals in the sector. This year’s theme was "Arbitration and State: a complex symbiosis" and the congress addressed topics such as the State and measures to halt arbitration proceedings, the State’s responsibility for the recognition and enforcement of awards, and the State as an agent against corruption in arbitration, among others. It was a great opportunity for Ama?l Olivier, Nora Iba?ez and Gustavo Recio Iturralde to meet with colleagues, learn about the latest trends, and share past experiences. [#PAW2024] Day 2 - On Tuesday morning at #PAW2024, Opus 2 hosted a seminar “The paradox of legal #AI: Capabilities and controversies in international arbitration construction disputes”. The session was moderated by Matthew Rushton (Opus 2) and the panel was composed of Emily Elliott (White & Case LLP), Dr. Ileana Smeureanu (Jones Day) and Ama?l Olivier (Orizo Consult).? ? Can #AI be simultaneously transformative, yet intrinsically flawed? If it works some of the time, will it work all of the time? These questions and others must be a part of the ongoing conversation about the use of AI in law.
